I just bought my wife a 2G iPhone for use on T-Mobile. It was previously used obviously. It's running 3.0 and everything works without a problem. The only thing is that there's still music on the iPhone from the previous owner. I have a feeling when I plug it into her laptop's iTunes, iTune's is going to throw a fit. Could someone please provide me with some info as to how to go about this and what steps I should take to maintain the unlock and what she's already added to the phone (apps, contacts, pictures, etc) while still being able to add music through her iTunes?
Thanks! |

I have read and found that once the baseband is unlocked for unsupported sims, it remains unlocked. Unless you update to 3.1...
I am no expert, but I am pretty sure that iTunes will just delete the songs already on the phone once you sync with your iTunes Library. |

2G phones don't have the unlock problems that 3G and 3GS phones have. Once unlocked, they remain unlocked for ever even with 3.1
You can happily restore your phone to 3.0 and jailbreak with redsn0w if you want to remove any traces from the previous owner. |

Hold down the option (also labelled alt) key on a mac and click restore. On windows hold down the shift key and click restore.
You will be given an opportunity to browse for a firmware. The IPSW names can be long and confusingly similar so be careful to pick the right one! |
