"unable to recognize spezified ipsw"
redsnow fails at finding the ipsw on launching. after clicking [browse] and pointing it to the ipsw it says "processing firmware..." for a few seconds and after that "unable to recognize spezified ipsw"
its a 3G on 3.0.1 and i downloaded iPhone1,2_3.0.1_7A400_Restore.ipsw and placed it on the desktop. i tried it both on mac and windows with same results. any ideas?

You need to download and point redsn0w at the 3.0 ipsw not 3.0.1 even if you are jailbreaking 3.0.1. This sounds confusing but it works!
