I unthinkingly restored my jailbroken and unlocked 3g s iphone using the
restore option in iTunes. Then used redsn0w 0.8 to jailbreak and ultrasn0w to unlock. Did I lose my unlock ability when I did the direct restore. If I did is there a way to get the unlock back?

You will still able to unlock your iPhone after restore done. Unless, you're updating to a newer iPhone firmware version that patched the unlock.
