Can anyone help?

redsnow crashes when jailbreaking iPhone 3G

I jailbroke it before with redsn0w 0.7 then had battery problems so did a factory restore through iTunes with "start as new phone" option as a fix for battery life per DevTeam blog.

I downloaded the new redsn0w 0.8 and ran it, but crashes while jailbreaking/rebooting

Now I'm stuck.

You have a Mac, so use PwnageTool instead of Redsn0w. The jailbreak procedure is safer and cleaner than RedSn0w.

OK, That's an interesting idea. Will UltrsnOw work with Pwnage Tool? (I'll traveling to South America next week)

Sure, the final result is the same: An iPhone with Jailbreak, so you can install UltraSn0w through Cydia. You have to know the following:

- If you are using a non official carrier (ATT if you are in the US), you have to select "Activate the phone" in the general settings.

- Do no install Icy. Just only install Cydia. Icy is very buggy at this moment.

You're using the wrong IPSW file. That's for iPhone 3GS and you stated you have a 3G.

The correct one is iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Use the correct file, restore, then jailbrake using redsn0w and the ultrasn0w repo.

cofi, Thanks, I did actually use 1,2 I just got confused later when I was unable to restore, so I tried both of them and ended up writing the wrong one in the post. but, good spot. Thanks.

well, i m using the right ipsw but its still crashing. i dont have a mac either. redsnow just stops working in DFU. i m trying to jailbreak a 3G using redsn0w 0.8. In DFU mode, it crashes and windows shuts the program down. any idea fellow hackers???

have u installed .net freamwork in windows if not ple install and check

yup got .NET framework 3.5 in vista. thanks for the replies man. any more ideas in ur sleeve?
