Hi, I'd like to begin by saying this is my first venture into firmware modding of any sort.
When I follow the instructions in redsn0w, I get to the part that says "waiting for reboot." It stays there indefinitely, no status bar progress, nothing going on with my phone, just a black, unlit screen, for 5, 10, 15 minutes. I found a few suggestions on fixing this by googling. The first suggestion was using a different USB port, but that didn't change anything. The second was to go into DFU mode before starting redsn0w. Doing this caused it to bypass the countdowns and breeze through the uploads and get to the "Done!" screen in about 5 seconds... all the while my iPhone screen stayed black. When I restarted the iPhone, of course, the phone had not been jailbroken. (This same thing happens if I get stuck at the "waiting for reboot" screen and hit "cancel" in redsn0w, then immediately run the program again.) Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong? I've attempted it at least a half dozen times now. Thanks! EDIT: Thought it may be relevant to point out that I'm using Vista 64-bit. Last edited by MLPMS3; 06-21-2009 at 07:23 PM. Thank you to the many who at least bothered to read my problem, though nobody responded. I downloaded the new file referenced in the "redsn0w 0.7.2 bugfix out" thread and it worked the first time through.

@Azmodaii have you try the recent iTunes 8.2, and try in windows XP.
but since MLPMS3 doesn't have problem in vista.. or maybe try to change to other usb port too.. keep trying... oya some people have some problem with the services... how to check: Go to RUN>type services.msc check out : telnet, terminal service and messenger must be started. hope it's work.. |

I had the same problem waiting for ages for reboot.
I had an ipsw that i had donwloaded from a forum thinking it was the last one by apple. I found a hint saying on the internet that you must update and reds0w with the same file. it seems apple used a newer files in the meanwhile. to be sure I download the 3.0 ipsw file again. put the iphone in restore mode. shift-restore in itunes from dowloaded ipsw redsn0w browsing and selecting the same file. followed resn0w instructions. iphone 3.0 (1.gen) is now jail broken ... finally the key was to make sure that itunes and redsn0w used the same file. |
