Sitting at 3.0 now...what are my options??

I have 2G unlocked and jailbroken sitting at Firmware 3.0 currently. Can I update to the latest firmware at all? If so please provide details. From what I've read, it doesn't seem possible.....

With pwnagetool you can create a custom firmware and restore (not upgrade) to 3.1 you will keep your unlock your phone will still be jailbroken.

This is only true for 2G phones. Other models need to be careful to avoid upgrading baseband to a version that can't be unlocked.

you have 2 options:

1) use this tutorial if you have the possibility to use a mac: iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1 Using PwnageTool (Mac)

2) search google for downloading a custom firmware 3.1 for you 2G

Thanks for that. One last question, does it matter if I use Itunes 9? I see the latest is 9.0.1, will this still work?

I also knew that it should work with iTunes 9.0.But mine is not working.I can't even figure out the correct reason.Do I need to restore?
Can anyone pls help me?It would be really appreciable.

Restore after creating the custom firmware. Follow instructions on iClarified.
