I unlocked my 2g 3.0 firmware with redsn0w with my tmobile sim card in. It activates and detects my phone number but doesn't list my contacts and says no service. I even installed bootneuter to make sure it was unlocked and all the settings were correct.

I had a similar problem. When running redsn0w I did not choose the unlock checkbox. (I thought I didn't need to.) When it completed I could unlock the phone and use it, but I couldn't place or receive calls.

To fix it, I simply repeated the entire process (restored and re-ran redsn0w). But this time I was sure to check unlock and it worked fine.
