Default Stuck on rebooting?

Hey guys, first post.=)

Well basically I am having problems with Redsn0w, and am always getting stuck on 'waiting for reboot', and after numerous tries, it's really annoying me. I've done everything correctly, updated to 3.0, restored to make sure it's on there and working, turned it off, then opened up redsn0w, loaded the IPSW (3G, so correct one), go to the next step where you put it into DFU mode, followed that exactly, yet it still stops. Any ideas why? This is for the jailbreaking part btw, I'm dreading when I get onto Cydia and whatever.

Bit of info:

Bought the phone from a mate in the US, I'm in the UK. I want to unlock it so it can be used on my Orange Pay as you go Sim.

It's currently on the AT & T (or whatever it's called) sim, however I did a complete restore and didn't go back to the original settings on Itunes and instead did a new one, and so I now also get This Activation May Take Some Time when the Iphone is on.

The firmware is 3.0

The baseband is 04.05.04G, I don't know if this affects it or not.

Is there any help? I would be grateful if any is given. Thanks

Sorry for double post but:

Right, think I may have found something, and if it is, then I'm totally lost.

Instead of restoring just normally, I pressed shift + restore and selected the IPSW which I thought was correct for my iPhone, which was 'iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore. However, iTunes said "The iPhone "****'s iPhone" could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible." Now I'm guessing this would make sense for redsn0w being stuck on reboot or something?

But if that's not the right firmware, then what is the right firmware? I swear I was on 3.0 (software version) unless it means my Modem Firmware (or what I thought was baseband), which is 04.05.04_G. Does this mean I might need to downgrade? Or do I need to try another IPSW?

You are posting in the 2G iPhone forum so I am assuming you have a 1st Generation 2G network (edge) phone. If this is the case, you should be flashing with the firmware named "iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw" This is the one that you would select with iTunes shift-restore and the one you would select with Redns0w.

According to your modem version, your iPhone should be iPhone 2g and the IPSW you used is for iPhone 3g. Try to restore your iPhone to the iphone 2g IPSW and jailbreak it again..
