Default cant get DFU mode on iphone

I'm using 2g iphone.
After upgrading to OS 3.0 the problems starts, before that, my iphone was working on OS 2.2.1 perfectly.
first, my battery gave me problems charging it, it did charge after plugging again and again to the electricity in the wall. half a battery took like 6 hours, after being fully charged, it wont charge again.
PC/Itunes wont recognize it at all since installing OS 3.0
i tried holding the power button + home button for 7,8,9,10 and even more for each try.
I tried different computer (Windows XP)

**Also, when I press the home/power buttons after the phone is off, the apple icon appears almost immediately.

I think i tried everything, working on it for the past week with no success.

Please help me out.
Thanks.

Sorry for my English, I'm not from the States.

- iphone is stuck w apple logo

press power + home
when screen is black release power+home btns (be quick // usually after 4-5 seconds)

- iphone is off and u want to enter dfu mode

press power 5sec

press power + home 10 seconds (u will see apple logo disapear, after 1 seconds u will release power btn /// also u could see some lines on screen - hard to see first time - this is a sign that u did it right)

release power, but keep pressing home 30seconds

also u could find info searching go0gle, y0utube etc

u can try another computer/usb port

good luck

the apple logo disappear after 7 seconds and comes back 2 seconds later, and disappear again after 3-4 seconds later, timed with a clock just to be sure.
the only thing that happens is that my iphone is doing reset, thats all, no recovery mode and no DFU.
btw, i did mannage to use recovery/DFU mode in the past. even a day before
all this things happened.

i did everything as you wrote, and few more things i read on the web, youtube, forums, google etc..

it seems like my iphone doesn't recognize that im pressing the HOME btn with the power btn.
so it just turned on.
but when im turning off my iphone pressing power/home it will reset, plus, my
home button works perfectly when the iphone is on.

any more suggestions ?

Default Same problem

Same problem here.
2g iphone, successfully ran redsn0w on it a few days ago.
After a restore to 3.0 I can no longer enter DFU or recovery mode, the phone resets and stays unactivated but still unlocked.

Any help would be appreciated.

In my case I'm thinking that maybe after the restore the home button stopped working.
Is there anyway to force restore the iphone being that I can't even get into recovery mode?

Same experience here. One of my friends was facing the same problem. The DFU mode was not available. We both tried lots of jobs to repair but failed. But when I changed the cable surprising it started working cool!
