How to Restore Unlocked and Jailbroken 3G

Hello,

I just got a new 3Gs and would like to get rid of my 3G.

My 3G is unlocked (UltraSnow) and jail broken (RedSnow), however, I would like to sell it and have it reset back to the original settings while maintaining the unlock. I have been reading that if I do a factory restore through iTunes it will get rid of my jailbreak and will permanently lock the phone.

How do I restore the phone (get rid of all my private data) and still have it unlocked?

You could use a custom made 3.1 firmware to restore your 3G & at the same time this will clean out your private data.

Thank you for the response. Yeah, I am using 3.0.1 -- But I don't really understand the ecid/shsh file on saurik's server... is there a turtorial I could find on how to do that?

OR how do I go about getting a custom 3.1 firmware restore that will keep the settings?

Sorry ignore what I said about ecid/shsh because your have the 3G not the 3GS,,, I didn't read the first post correctly

If you want to update to 3.1 you can still use a custom firmware, one of are members "Shade.sh" has a great server for downloading stuff like that.

Hi, Thank you again for your response. I am really sorry, but I just can't figure out how to do this. I don't want to brick or ruin the 3G, but I want it cleaned out of my data, but still retain the unlocked (and if possible the jailbroken) status. If somebody could offer (or point me on the direction of) some detailed instructions, I would really really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Open iTunes,click on Store and Deauthorize your computer from iTunes and sync your iPhone. When the syncing is done, reauthorize your iTunes and sync your iPhone again. That’s it.So simple..But never jailbreak your iPhone 3G again.For more detail information go for the following link-
