Default 3.1 unlocking

I know I know. It was my stupid brother. He knew exactly that he shouldn't have updated to the new version but he did, "by mistake"...

Now, my question is. A new hole hasn't been found yet to unlock this new baseband. Is there hope? Or we are screwed and I should just sell his iPhone to an AT&T user?

what do you guys think?
thanks

Sell it.
An unlock isn't going to happen any time soon, if ever.

hope is not lost for the 3.1 users. you can always go back to 3.0

i dont know why no one made a sticky for this yet. but the option is out there.

roll back to 3.0 WHILE KEEPING picture messages visual voice mail and tethering.

Revert Back From iPhone Firmware 3.1 To Firmware 3.0.1 | Jaxov

that will take you back to 3.0

No one sticky it because IT IS WRONG !!!

you cannot revert back to 3.0 from a stock upgrade 3.1 AND HAVE an unlock.

The ONLY way you can go back to 3.0 and have a FULL working iPhone 3G is IF AND ONLY IF your iphone has 5.8 Bootloader for the baseband.

The guide you link clearly showing using a AT&T legitimate activated iphone + SIM .. In this case, it will work and it will also work with a Factory unlocked phone

@uaintredie

A contracted iphone 3G !!!!

When you post something like this, please give full description of what you have.
It's very confusing for people who don't see the "gotcha".

another thing, if it is a contracted iphone 3G (say with ATT) with fw 3.1. No need to downgrade it because you can jailbreak it with Custom firmware 3.1 for 3G via pwangetool.
I don't see the point

I had just realized I posted this:

"So i took my phone into a repair shop to replace the home button, and they upgraded me to 3.1.2 without asking, Now my unlock is lost! Am I as screwed as I think I am?

EDIT: Also, I notice "for pay" unlocking services that claim to unlock phones that have been upgraded to 3.1.2. Is there any truth to this claim? Why would they be able to unlock it when the dev team cannot?"

In the wrong forum. Is it true? Am I really, totally F'ed? I'm in Mexico City for the next six months. Not very easy to sell an AT&T locked iPhone here.

There is absolutely no truth to those claims - theyt are all Scams. There is no way to unlock a phone with BB 05.11.07
