Hi every one..
i had a client that came in today with an iPhone 3GS that he bought from the U.S, he had his SIM inside (that is not ATT of course) and its working fine, he said whenever he connect this 3GS to iTunes (8.2) it tells him (the SIM is not supported).. i tried that on my iMac, iTunes 8.2, and it gives the same msg, there was cydia on the iPhone, so i opened cydia, went to sources.. surprise.. there was so repo666.ultrasn0w there, and no ultrasn0w was installed!! damn!! how did this device work? its not unlocked with ultrasn0w, and its not officially unlocked too since iTunes refused to allow syncing complaining about the SIM!
I never seen anything like this, so i said lets do it how i usually do: ultrasn0w, added the source downloaded ultrasn0w, restarted, iPhone freeze on Apple logo with spinning circle and keeps restarting... put it in restore mode, went to iTunes 8.2, it gave me this new msg: "This Device isn't eligible for the requested build".. 3GS currently on 3.0, but i guess now iTunes will allow restoring to 3.1 only.
luckily i managed to get iPhone out of restore mode, but back to restarting problem.. the minute i toke the SIM out of it.. it worked normal... when it reached the home screen, i inserted the SIM back in, it got soo slow, lost the wifi, signal kept searching.. iphone became useless.. take the SIM, it works normal..
opened Cydia, removed ultrasn0w, restart, put the SIM, iphone works back fine with signal and able to make and receive calls without ultrasn0w, but iTunes refuse to sync back again!!
any one got into such thing? how come 3GS not officially unlocked, no ultrasn0w installed, can accept the SIM and show signal??
