Default 3G 3.0.1 Redsnow just not jailbreaking

Hi All.

I have a 3G updated to 3.01 using itunes.. never been unloked before.

I am trying to jailbreak it first but everytime I try to go into DFU mode Redsnow just sits on 'Waiting for reboot' I have also tried it on another computer but redsnow just then says 'device not detected' I think the iPhone is going into DFU correctly as I get a pop up telling me my DFU device could be faster if I change ports.

The iPhone remains blank and will then only come back on when I hold now power+home.

I am using Vista.

Hopefully someone can help me.

When Redsn0w stops at "Waiting for reboot" try unplugging the phone from the USB lead then straight away reconnect it again.

I think that should do the trick

Are you using any kind of USB hub? because that can sometimes cause problems.

Hiya,

1) are you useing correct Frimware for jail breaking?
2) Have you installed .net freamwrk ?

also give a try XP + SP2 with .net.

Good luck.

there is a post around here about how someone was having the exact same problem with Vista. Seems to be pretty common. He was finally able to get it to work by changing some settings around in Vista itself. I believe the post is either under the Redsnow forum or the general forum. I'll see if I can find it for you....

I'm pulling my hair out now

I've tried to run the programme as Administrator and changed the compatability settings but it still does the same..

Then I tried XP and for some reason Redsnow (Downloaded from Iclarified) doesn't seem the same? It goes through select .ispw extracts a few things but then comes up asking me to put the phone in recovery mode by holding in home while inserting the USB but then nothing else happens.. why does it appear different?
