Default No Service after Ultrasn0w unlock!

I have successfully unlocked a 2G and a 3G using redsnow and ultrasn0w.

When I completed the process on another 3G 16G, it is unlocked, and downloads Ultrasn0w, but I'm getting a No Service signal.

I have done hard resets, set the phone up as a new phone, but still no luck. No luck with turning off 3G, toggling airplane mode.

The phone is originally from Dubai, and was unlocked using Yellow snow. I have done a factory restore on Itunes, as well as a hard restore from the Iphone but no luck. I've put in two different SIM cards that are active on my other two phones and they don't work on the 3rd phone.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, I'm stuck!

Hello There

Try to install the firmware newly (restore) and then do the active and install cydia and don't click on unlock. Hope it might work as I have got the same problem with no signal. Later I just did active + install cydia and not unlock and it was OK without any problem and the baseband was remain unlock as before.

I have done restores using pwnage, then installing cydia and jailbreaking and installing ultrasn0w but no luck, as well as a restore installing redsnow, completely following the instructions, then ultrasn0w, but no luck either.

Still 'No Service'

I too had the no service problem. Try going to settings->general->reset->reset all settings.

For me, this worked for a few days then I had to do it again. Not sure why.

Edit: Today i noticed I was losing signal when I added the Tmobile APN settings. (wap.voicestream.com) I decided to leave out the APN and I have yet to lose signal. Don't know if they are related, but seems like a huge coincidence.

I'm going to try another clean restore today and see if that helps.

good luck!

Try moving closer to a tower.
I see the no service sign a lot. But the phone still works.
GPS and wifi are still sketchy.

Default No Sim No service

I have similar issues. I recently and successfully redsn0wed and ultrasnw0ed my 3G on firmware 3.0 the very day ultrasn0w was released.

Here is what happened since then:

1. Phone worked perfectly (calling, receiving, and SMS) for 5 days.
2. On the 6th day (Sat.) It stopped working: started seeing "No Sim installed, and No Service" errors.
3. Restored iphone, redsn0wed and ultrasn0wed again but no luck.
4. When the phone switches on now; after I get the "No Sim" error, I see a carrier signal briefly before it switches into "Searching ..." mode which then returns "No Service" error
5. I looked back at my phone log to the last time it worked and I noticed an unknown call that came into my phone. The number associated with this call is: *556#0 which happens to be the code we use to check prepaid account balance from the carrier in my country.
6. I've checked online on this issue of No Service and I see I am not the only one experiencing the problem. I've tried the sequence of "switch 3G off, turn off airplane mode and then on," etc.
7. I can see that the phone captures all the available network carriers in my country and when any of them is selected with their correct sim inserted, I get the error: "network lost". This is probably why I briefly see the network signal upon rebooting and then disappearing leading to a new search mode.
8. I've taken the sim card and put in my regular motorola phone and made and receive calls with it to ensure that network signal is good (in fact it is full bars). When the unlocked 3g on 3.0 worked, I got the full bars as well.

thx for any reference and/or tips you can provide to ensure that my expensive iPhone is not now an iPod.

Hi Dear Iphone Friends ,

I would like to share an experience i really do hope that the dev team reads this , maybe there is a solution that they will get after this article>

Well like almost all of you i bought an iphone 3g 16 gb black and as most
iphones it was network locked , but as yellowsn0w was around it really was not a problem getting the network back with my sim.

When 2.2.1 came out i accidently upgraded to it and i was with out my phone for 5 months until the great DEV TEAM came out with ultrasn0w , so i was very happy BUT while trying to JAILBREAK the device, it would always get stuck on the 3rd reboot , im sure a lot of you peeps out there could still be having that problem.I was kind of deppresed after trying over and over at least 50 times as i was going to give up i said well why dont i give it a try on a windows XP machine ( i was currently using my VISTA ULTIMATE 64x) and voila the whole thing worked like a charm .

So after the reboot etc i was kind of waiting to see some pretty signal bars come up and believe it or not they did come up , BUT i actually have to sim cards with my operator an old sim that dates 3 years back and a new version that dates to at least 1 year back which i was initially using on my iphone when i first got it .

So when i unlocked the phone with the ultrasnow i was actully using my old sim and so when i rebooted the iphone network signal was present, so i thought cool my new sim should work as well , so i replaced the sim as well as reboot the phone and big dissapointement NO SIGNAL, i tried everything so that i could refresh the network but nada nothing even tried restore and going through the red and ultra process but nothing .So now i was confused was it the phone or the sim ????????

Anyway i tried the old sim again and guess what the card would register and signal was present !!!!!!!

So i called some1 that i know that works for the operator that i was using and he said that the problem that i was having was simply because the new sim was is a 5 volt sim whereas the old sim is a 3volt sim......

Now i ask my self how is it that my new sim worked on the iphone when i first got it and not now!!!!!!

Could it be a problem with the firmware ???? i dont think so!!!!
May be its Yellowsn0w.!!!!!!
I actually dont know if someone from the dev team will read this but i hope that they do maybe they can have an idea on where the problem lies .
If any 1 knows them please ask them to have a read
Anyways i would like to thank the dev team personally for their work they are truly the gods of iphone
