Default how to install ultrasn0w with broken wifi?

hi,

looking for some guidance as my searching and testing has turned up nil. I have an iphone 3g that until recently was a working phone. then, ultrasn0w is released, so i promptly upgrade to 3.0

problem: since the upgrade, no wifi. no wifi=no ultrasn0w

i have tried restore mode, dfu mode, original apple ipsw with redsn0w and custom ipsw with pwnagetool.

all the solutions i have seen rely on applications created by other folk like 'quicksn0w'. if i could get the iphone to connect through the usb cable, that would work, but from my reading this requires openssh on the phone, which requires an internet connection to install.

i tried to download the ultrasn0w package using pwnagetool and include it in the custom ipsw, but it didn't find any acceptable packages...

so, any links, pointers or tips or suggestions at this point would be appreciated. thanks

ok, further info for those paying attention: the specific behaviour of my wifi, under all circumstances is that it shows as being turned on, the circle will spin for a second or two and then disappear. this repeats, but not shows a signal for any connection. i have tried my router and adhoc computer network too.
my searching still shows up nothing that will help. any ideas are welcome!

I am in exactly the same situation.
The tool posted by teamare didn't work. It fails saying ">> Shell could not recover. Exiting."

There is another possibility that might get us an unlocked phone - There is an option to add repositories to the custom IPSW created by PwnageTool.
Unfortunately, adding repo666.ultrasn0w.com and refreshing is not working.
I have a feeling that's because this is an incomplete link which is being filled up by Cydia/Icy. I have no idea what is the full version of it. If we could add ultrasn0w to it we'd be able to unlock it without wifi.

Anyone have any other ideas?
