Hi,
Right...I've searched around for ages on this one and can't seem to find the solution. I had a jailbroken iPhone 3GS on 3.0 (via redsn0w) that was working fine n dandy. No probs at all. It's on an official O2 contract so no need for hacktivation/unlock. When the new Pwnage tool was released for 3.1.2, I thought I'd upgrade to the newer firmeware. So I backed up my iPhone (iTunes), created my custom IPSW (no hacktivation, cydia only), and restored to pwned firmware. Then I chose to use my backup instead of setting up as new phone. Everything seemingly working fine...so finished up by installing my Cydia Apps/Addons (Five Icon Dock, Appsync, Backgrounder etc) Then I found that when I tried to launch any of my Apps that were downloaded from App Store, would just quit on launch. They just wont run! I've tried re-syncing, re-downloading etc. Nada. Now heres the strangest thing. The Apps that DO work, are the cracked Apps downloaded & installed from other places but the App Store! (And also the stock iPhone Apps). It's driving me nuts! It's almost as though the phone wants me to use cracked apps! ![]() Anyone else had this problem? Know the solution? HELP! |

I had the exact same problem. To fix it I had to create a new iTunes account and use it to download apps from the app store.
Very weird my original account still works great on my ipod touch however on my iphone I need the new one. |

Based on personal experience and experience with other people's iPhones, this is all related to the changes that several programs (which will remain unnamed here as they and their use are frowned upon by members of this forum) make to your MobileInstallation files in order to run these cracked apps.
Guaranteed way to make your phone work properly again with all of your purchased apps: 1) Sync your contacts and other important data to your computer and ensure there is a target for the sync (Windows Contacts, Outlook, etc. Just make sure it syncs) 2) Do a complete wipe of all of the data on the phone. 3) Restore (not update) to the latest firmware (3.1.2 at the time of this posting) and when asked, set the device up as a NEW iPhone. 4) Complete a full sync and your contacts, etc. will be back on the phone. 5) Jailbreak with blackra1n and DO NOT install the aforementioned apps that make changes to your MobileInstallation file. Your legitimately purchased iPhone Apps from the App Store will work with no problem at this point. It's possible that this may work without doing the full wipe if you're trying to save a little time, but doing the full wipe guarantees you get rid of any leftover remnants of the applications and the MobileInstallation patch. |
