Hi,
sorry, perhaps I have a silly question. Actually, I have a 3GS with i upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1.2 using Pwnage Tool. Jailbreak is still available. Problems: 1. No Carrier Logo -> fixed this with "Make it mine" (Cydia) 2. Problems with Internet connection: when I open an App, i get no Internet connection. I have to go back to Homescreen and restart App (e.g. Mail) to get a connection. I think this could be because I´m still on old baseband. What is the best way to upgrade? I found a thread to manually upgrade which seemed a bit complicated. On iclarified.com I found a tutorial to jailbreak 3.1.2. Does this mean, it is possible for me (Unlocked 3GS!!!) to do a regular restore on itunes with original Apple 3.1.2 and afterwards do a Jailbreak via Pwnage Tool? This would be a lot easier I think. Am I right? Regards Chris |

I don't think the second problem is related to old baseband. I have run a similar config to you (factory unlocked 3GS, old baseband, OS 3.1.x) and have not noticed the second problem. This is probably because you restored from iTunes backup after the upgrade. Or you could try a reset network settings, this fixes many weird network problems. You are correct that you can restore to original apple 3.1.2 and then jailbreak with either blackra1n or pwnagetool 3.1.4 (which added basic jailbreak capabilities for 3GS). This will update your baseband and keep you jailbroken. |

Thanks for you answer... will first try to reset network settings. If this doesn´t work, I will upgrade with apple firmware...

i dealt with something similar to that just yesturday, if youre using an officially unlocked phone, remake your custom firmware and dont check "Activate", ive had 5 cases where that causes data and signal problems when the official phone is hackivated
