@urrterrible
maybe you still have some leftovers from the mobileconfig stuff. Try the following. On the iPhone goto "Settings>General>Network>Mobile Network Data". Scroll down, you shoul see something like Reset setting, tap on it. The iPhone then will rely on the carrier bundle only. Reboot the iPhone and try again: Connect iphone and your PC, start tethering or at least look for the tethering switch If this aint workgoto settings>general>reset and reset network settings in the. You dont have to reinstall 3.1.2 - no need for doing so

/private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/ inside you should see the bundle and at least one (maybe more) folder namend with a number. Delete all of them, reboot the iPhone and it will use the standrd carrier bundle from AT&T. Check my post here http://www.hackint0sh.org/f203/93787-3.htm#post466393 the link to the 6.5 bundle is in there. Apply the bundle again, reboot and let me know if this works for you.

Renamed it via ssh and got the phone to boot... but now im stuck with this funky battery problem. The thing is, I dont even use tethering at all when this is happening. It's actually turned off most of the time. I've recently turned off location services and that's a bit better. But, I'm thinking that it's still only 75% of the performance that it was seeing originally before the patch. I also noticed that the phone becomes a mini pocketwarmer. it happens even moreso with the location on. looks like something in the background is running or not turning off as it should. I did not notice this with the original clean 3.1.2 JB. I'm tempted to do a full restore again... but i have so many apps, it's becoming a pain to rearrange them every time. Especially when i'm using 5 column SB. Anyone willing to send me a copy of their CommCenter file? unpatched of course. this would be for a 32gb 3GS. would be interesting to see if this changes my battery life back at all. |

If you want to give it a shot: Duplicate the custom firmware file you made with PwnageTool. On the duplicate rename the extension .ipsw to .zip. The Finder will ask you if you really want... - Yes. Doubleclick to unzip. Open the folder and doubleclick the big dmg to mount it. Once mounted goto /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/ and grab the fresh Commcenter.

FWIW, I can confirm that AT&T bundle 6.5 from Volkspost works perfectly.
I did not download any commcenter patch from Cydia, I did it manually. Scenario: - iphone 3g, restored to 3.1.2 from Apple, BB=05.11.07 - activate with AT&T SIM - jailbreak with blackra1n rc2 (note: rc2 don't do hacktivation and this is what I want with an AT&T activated phone) - Once done jailbreaking, i restore with custom firmware 3.1.2 built from pwnagetool 3.1.4. Again, custom firmware does not have "activation" checked. - Once done restore custom firmware, run Cydia, let it update, install openssh. - SSH into the phone and backup original commcenter locate in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support. Back up by: cp CommCenter CommCenter.original - Copy the patched CommCenter (this you must perform on your Mac to create a patched version) to the location above. If you need instruction how to do this, please ask. We can post instruction for that part as well. Note: if you are using a 3GS, you must patch Commcenter from that phone as well. Please note that patched commcenter for 3G and 3GS are different. - Now, update with the ATT bundle 6.5 from Volkspost via itunes - Reboot phone Done. ps: there are other ways of doing this (probably quicker too). My way is lengthy because I want to use custom firmware which i think is better.
