IPhone 3GS - Firmware 3.1.2

Hi, help needed here as my phone can't gets in DFU mode anymore.

What i have done on my iphone 3GS:

1. I have jailed 3.1.2 with blackrain as I dont own a mac.
2. I found out that i can download custom .ipsw so i restored back to original 3.1.2 firmware
3. Now, to use the downloaded custom .ipsw, I have to enter DFU mode.

But now i cant enter DFU mode anymore .... any solution ?

You need Restore mode - not DFU
Turn off iphone, hold down Home and plug in to iTunes and wait

I just realized I'm in the iPhone 2G forum. There shouldn't be any reason why you can't enter DFU mode unless the lock or home button are physically broken. Make sure you're following the directions to put an iPhone into DFU mode as described here: iClarified - iPhone - How to Put an iPhone Into DFU Mode

Wow .... this is all wrong ...

- you cannot put a 3gs custom ipsw on the phone if it is not pwned or jailbroken before.

- For a non jailbroken 3gs phone, you WILL need a mac.
- If you don't have a mac, use blackra1n to jailbreak it.
- Once jailbroken, you can restore a custom ipsw to it. Simple shift-click-restore and select custom firmware. NO recovery mode, NO DFU
