Default Push Notifications

Hi,

I'm from Hong Kong and I have a Factory Unlocked (SIM Free) 3GS activated and using official carrier (3HK). It's OTB 3.0 and now been jailbroken with PwnageTool 3.1.3 to Firmware 3.1. I bought a genuine BeejiveIM from AppStore and found out that Push Notifications aren't working. Any ideas?

Thanks.

When you upgraded to 3.1 via pwnagetool did you say No to the "Do you have an iPhone contract that would activate normally through iTunes?"

You should have said yes to this question.

What has happened is that the jailbreak has hactivated your iPhone even though you could have activated normally through iTunes.

Hactivation does not properly enable push notifications.

Create a new pwnagetool custom ipsw and answer yes to this question. Restore (not update) using this ipsw and you will find your push notifications return.

Hi Olethros,

I did "restored" with a 3GS custom ipsw which is 1GB partitioned and "Unactivated". That's the problem......

fyi, youtube is working perfectly fine as well as all other stuffs.....only push notifications not working (only once in a while...and usually not).

Please help....

Guys,

I did a restore again with iPhone2,1_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore_1GB_Unactivated .ipsw but push notification still has problems....tried with Beejive (bought with $) and only 1 out of 7 times worked with push notification.....

After the restore, i need to remain plugged to iTunes to activate my iphone, thus i am damn sure that my custom ipsw is an unactivated version....

Any ideas please....?

Will this be the reason why I can't get my factory unlocked iphone working with push notifications?

This article refers to hactivated phones who lack the correct push certificates. Or are using a push certificate that has been shared with many other iPhones like the ones included in push fix packages.

I am using a factory unlocked 3GS purchased in Australia. I use it in Norway with one of the carriers who offers the iPhone over here. I don't have an iPhone specific plan.

Push has worked fine and reliably for me except when i broke it with something I installed from cydia. A restore fixed that. I am still jailbroken.
