I have a jail-broken 3gs, I received the Iphone with 3.01 and jail-broke it with the new Pawnage tool 3.1. So I am running 3.1. I have loaded new custom carrier settings so base-band has not changed I am still at 4.26.08 my carrier files is AT&T 5.1.
Every thing is working great and love having the jail break, however I am concerned every time i plug into Itunes I get the question that a new carrier settings are available and you have to choose yes or cancel. Is there any way of stopping this I don't want to hit yes by accident? Thanks |

Carrier settings are usually completely safe to install. In this case, the new carrier setting is to enable MMS and you should definitely accept and install it.
As well as jailbreaking, PwnageTool prevents upgrading the baseband to a version that can't be unlocked. This is why you are still on 4.26.08. This does not matter so much because you are on a legit carrier (AT&T). If you ever want to switch carriers or sell it to someone after your contract is finished then you have an advantage in being able chose the option of software unlocking. AT&T will not remove the carrier lock on your phone for you even after your contract is finished, so it is a good option to have the software baseband unlock up your sleeve. |
