When the 3gs first came out with fw 3.0, Dev Team instructed people people to save the ibec+ibss. You had to put phone in recovery mode to get ibec and you had to restore to get the ibss. In both process, itunes created two directory named PER#####.tmp respectively. If you still have those directories (must be complete), you can use firmware umbrella to read those directories and build your ecid/shsh hash. The latest firmware umbrella has that feature built-in. Read the documentation. This is your last resort to get the hash from fw 3.0.

has anyone ever compared the shsh files directly from apple and from sauriks server?
i just used umbrella to get both and they are different. the one from apple is a tiny bit larger and seems to be a newer version. could be that it's 3.1.3 already, although the file comes back as 3.1.2. apple: <dict> <key>@ServerVersion</key> <string>0.6.31-b23</string> <key>AppleLogo</key> <dict> saurik: <dict> <key>@ServerVersion</key> <string>0.6.30-b2</string> <key>AppleLogo</key> <dict> the individual keys are in a different order, there seems to be an extra one from apple. did a check for <key>iBoot</key> <dict> <key>Blob</key>, the data section is identical which is good i guess. any reason to be worried about the other missmatches?

It's ok.
As long as it contains the right information then you should be ok.

BTW have you had any luck restoring your phone using TinyTSS? I have started TinyTSS and pointed my hosts file to 127.0.0.1 Everything checks out OK when I ping from the command prompt etc. When I try to restore in iTunes everything shows good in the TinyTSS window, iTunes shows that it is verifying the restore and then I hear my computer make the DEVICE UNPLUGGED sound and that's it. After sitting there for a little while longer iTunes eventually fails resulting in a ERROR 1601. It doesn't even get past the verifying restore etc. Like I said though I can hear my computer make the DEVICE UNPLUGGED sound just as if I were to unplug my phone from the computer but then it doesn't connect back. I have tried Two different computers and 4 different versions of iTunes as well as one computer on XP and one on Windows 7. Both do the EXACT same thing. I have tried DFU Mode, Recovery Mode etc. Actually Recovery Mode is worse than DFU mode. I was able to get it to work by pointing my hosts file to sauriks server but I would really like to get it working with TinyTSS so that I don't have to rely on Sauriks server. |

I've personally tried tinyTSS before and it worked.
Not sure why it would not work for you.

The new version of firmware umbrella is out.
this updated version allows you to save your ecid/shsh signed with 3.1.3 firmware. Anyone with iphone 3GS, iTouch3g should probably grab the 3.1.3 ecid/shsh for future use if it ever needed. The Firmware Umbrella

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am a little confused about all this.
I have iphone 3gs (got it first week it came out) and running 3.0 firmware jailbroken with red snow. I do not have my ECID SHSH file saved with Cydia as my Cydia started going haywire about 6 months ago and was never fixed. My iphone started crashing a lot recently and I wanted to be able to restore or upgrade to 3.0 or 3.1.2 just in case it bricked in the near future. I do have my iBEC and iBSS file saved on my computer. So with all this, is there any way to get my ECID? and will I be able to restore or upgrade? Thanks for the help. |
