Hi again. I've completley restored the phone and put in the official o2-sim.

Seems to be activated now but anyway. The phone was charged to 100 %. After the restore i turned battery percentage on and set the timer for 1 hour. No other changes were made. After one hour of absolutley no usage the battery was down to 88 %.

No jailbreak. No unlock. Nothing.

Starting to think that it's my hardware that is fauly.

I've read about cases of heavy battery drainage in the official Apple forums but no solution there either.

That sounds like faulty hardware to me, I have mine jailbroken on o2 in an average coverage area, wifi turned on an 3g turned on and usage states 2hours 40 which is mostly music but at least 40 mins internet over wifi and still have 75% battery left something is defiantely a miss with yours.

So if i do a restore of the phone i should be able to just send it back to apple?

Or is there some kind of "re-virginisation" needed ?

So long as your personal data is off the phone then I don't think apple will mind if the phone is working or on the activation screen.

Thanks a lot for the answers I'll call apple sweden tomorrow and hopefully they can help me out. Otherwise I guess I'll catch the next flight to the UK.

Since everyone's posting about battery drain problems, I started monitoring my 3GS carefully. Turns out, it also was draining too fast for comfort, with and without the jailbreak. I took it back to the US Apple store where I purchased it and they replaced it right away, no questions asked.

Before I returned it, I restored to factory settings and wiped my data thoroughly. No sign of JB/unlock.

I read on forums (MacRumors, I think?) that this is a known problem for FW 3.0, whether or not you're jailbroken. It's happening to 3Gs as well as 3GSs. JB doesn't seem to necessarily be the cause. Rumor is that it's supposed to be fixed with FW 3.1. We'll see...I didn't want to wait. Now, I'm checking the new 3GS's battery use.

I restored my iPhone and since i live in sweden i had to ship it back to my uncle in the UK and arrange for apple to pick it up there.

I'll get back to you when the new phone arrives.
