Hey guys,

As the title entails; I'm running on 3.0 (7A341) with Modem Firmware 4.26.08.

I've been experiencing a major drop in battery life, lag time in pace with texting and it actually showing, also a depressing incompatibility with Cydia

from full battery life it drains hard core, it would almost seem at about 20% every hour.
+Tried: turning push mail/data off, wifi off, decreased brightness, 3g is off because it's unlocked via Ultrasn0w, but still not much of a change. Had to buy a power pack just to get me through the day.

Performance speed has changed for me with 3.0 Texting lags pretty noticeably, though it's not a major issue other than with apps.
+ Not sure how to fix this.


I'm not sure if this has been updated or changed, but this is the sole reason that I don't let the other two issues bother me so much.

Cydia apps caused everything to lock up/freeze. Which resulted in needing a restore and re-jailbreak & re-unlock. This happened several times, until I decided to just not even deal with it.
+ I skipped the updates/upgrades and went straight to downloading ultrasn0w. and left it at that.. never again opening it up.

So, I've been dealing with this simply because I waited months for an unlock "ultrasn0w" and "redsn0w". for a while I was in the group of anxious bricked 3G owners, waiting for the dev to put the slap to apple. and since then I've kept it running on this version/firmware.

I'm not one to mess with a good thing... but any advice from this board is welcomed.

I upgraded from 2.2.1 to 3.0 back in July.

Not sure how to fix the cydia problem, haven't run into it yet.

Here's how I solved the battery drainage problem, I think it was first posted by the dev team.
- after jailbreak, go to itunes, click on the choice that says "set up as new iphone", don't restore from a previously backed up iphone. You will see that your batter will last longer and your iphone will not be as hot as before.

Solve the Lagging problem, I just posted this a few days ago.

Just right now, I installed a theme called "illumine" thru cydia, and all of the sudden the iphone was running pretty quick again. I tried all of the applications, and none gives me problems so far. I'm so thrilled right now. I can't explained how it fixes the lagging problem. All I know is my iphone is running pretty fast again, and that's all i care. Recommend installing Winterboard first before installing "illumine", doing vice versa will not work. Try this at your own risk.

Anyhow, if you have updated to 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.1, or 3.1.2 and experiencing the lagging problem, then try the "illumine" theme and tell me if it helps or not.

Man, I wished I have discovered this 2 months ago to save myself countless hours searching the web and forums trying to solve this lagging problem. Needless to say, I restored my iphone from 2.2.1 to 3.0 and back to 2.2.1 like ten times. I can't believe it was just that easy. I hope this thread helps someone with their iphone 3.0 lagging problem. I don't have os 3.1 or 3.1.2, so I don't know whether it works or not for those os.
