My gf bought an iPhone 3G while she was back in Japan for awhile (purchased last October). She will be moving back to the US soon, and I am wondering if the iPhone she bought wont be a waste, and if there is a way I can make it work in the states? She has softbank over in Japan, and ATT over here in the States.

Yes...the iphone will work back here.....if she wants to use a SIM card from the USA she will have to use some software to jailbreak and unlock.

Just restore to FW 3.0, use RedSn0w 0.72 then UltraSn0w and the phone should work without a problem.
