Tethering on WiFi

Is it possible to tether a laptop via an iPhone on wifi. I know it seems pointless because you could use the wifi directly from the laptop, however, here in the UK the iPhone comes with free wifi data on for example BTOpenzone, which is not free on a laptop.

I have been using wifi tethering and its been working just fine. No need to do anything. Just connect iPhone to wifi and turn on tethering. It automatically uses wifi if it is connected.
