Anyone have any knowledge or ideas on getting an app that will allow me to run any given program, and then allow the user shake the phone to put it sleep, and then shake it again to wake it up?

I am doing language learning after reading a passage I want to be able to speak it, think about it, etc. for about 2 minutes, which I want the program/iphone to sleep. Then, I want return to the program to see the program again after another simple shake. In this way I can use the iphone for reference while not wearing out the bottom on top.
