appleguru, are u sure about that? Cause I'm not sure about itunes doing the whole activation thing. I installed all the betas illegally (not part of dev program), and I think that by activating my ipod touch with the jailbreak, i can now sync with itunes with internet on, which indeed works great.
On another side of things i can't install Icy 1.1 from within Icy 1.0. It says something like "bzip' component is not compatible, or gives DPKG dependency error #2. Did anyone got Icy 1.1 update to work?

I think I know why SCP is working but SSH no... At least, I've got an idea.
OpenSSH *is* working, but you can't use the terminal because the BSD Subsystem is not installed. Maybe, if you manually install the BSD Subsystem, it works.

I can't try it now because I've not updated my phone yet.
I'm going to do that as soon as SSH (terminal) is working.
(I'm a registered developer, so I own a legit copy of the firmware... but I needed jb before updating)

anybody know why my quickpwn is crashing at startup?
does not matter if via vmware fusion or natively booted.

Can you elaborate on the openssh working? Would I be able to use winscp to backup files?

My feeble attempt failed miserably. Upgraded to 3.0B2, did a restore (without letting it sync), QuickPWN'd, installed Icy, added a few sources and then installed OpenSSL and OpenSSH. Told it to install Cydia, it went through and installed about 9 packages, warned me I was about to run out of disk space and that I should remove some photos or videos, then everything looked good. Hit home and went over to Cydia, all it does is immediately crash back to the home screen. Worse yet, I couldn't uninstall it with Icy, it gave me a DPKG error. In order to clear the junk off, I had to re-restore to 3.0B2 (which I haven't yet jailbroken, I'm going to wait until a more official one, or until Icy is a little more reliable...)

I answered my own question - i installed openssh but I can't connect to my phone using winscp

Hi everyone
I've actually managed to do my custom carrier logo on my iPhone 2G on 3.0b2

Basically, copy the file as you would normally, then using CyberDuck, run this command

Code:

ln -s *bundlenamehere*.bundle /System/Library/Carrier\ Bundles/*requiredsymlink*

So, for example, mine was like this.
Using CyberDuck, I copied the file vodafone_UK_custom.bundle to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/
Then I ran this command, after much trialling and testing with variants

Code:

ln -s vodafone_UK_custom.bundle /System/Library/Carrier\ Bundles/23415

Then I pressed enter, and rebooted.
Now, I have my vodafone UK custom carrier logo!

as I told you, I have not tried it yet. I still need to do a couple of things with 2.2.1 before I update...
