I am a registered developer, however wish to use a non-approved SIM (otherwise I'd just activate normally!).
I was informed that by doing an UPGRADE from a jailbroken/unlocked/activated 2.x firmware, the activated state would remain. |

My iPhone 2G was unlocked/jailbroken/activated 2.2.1 firmware. After i upgraded to 3.0 beta, my iPhone has become an iPod touch. 3.0 beta recognizes that my T-Mobile SIM is from an approved carrier. Don't know if there's a way to get around this now.

I had a typo. I meant to write "3.0 beta recognizes that my T-Mobile SIM is NOT from an approved carrier".

It's very usable, but lags quite a bit more than my Jailbroken 2.2.1. Several apps are no longer working for me: RPNcalc, eBay, Pandora so far that I've found.

Can anyone post the MD5 of the 1G firmware? Just want to make sure I have an error free file.

I seem to be unable to downgrade my 2G to an earlier firmware using iTunes. Putting the phone in DFU is no problem, but during the restore (tried 2.0, 2.2 and 2.2.1) I always end up with error 1604 in iTunes. Does anyone have an idea to what I can try next?
