Beta 2 works fine on an unlocked 1G. Upgrade using the same procedure as for beta 1 (downgrade to 2.02, quickpwn RC3, upgrade to 3.0 beta 2, restore from backup).

Youtube is still not working though.

Yes. If you are not registered, there's no way you are going to get 3.0 to work as far as I know.
Not until there's an official release.

FYI : Since I went to beta 2, I've been unable to retain my lock. It just won't do the upgrade onto an unlocked phone and I have to restore instead which looses the unlock.

Correction to my previous post:

I had confused and messed up my upgrade path to 3.0 beta by putting in my legit sim, and so was getting "A different SIM detected" error. I corrected this and now have beta3 unlocked. :-)
If you have a working unlocked 2.2.1 1G phone then just simple shift(or option)-upgrade to 3.0 should still work for you too.

For those wondering, I just upgraded my beta 2 to beta 3 directly without having to downgrade first. My activation worked just fine, even though initially it showed 'No Service', soon as I jailbroke it using the new Quickpwn, everything works.

I see this in Beta 3 for 1G

Settings -> Messages -> MMS Messaging [On/Off]

Thought 1G doesn't support MMS. Also, when I go to Settings - > General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network -> Nothing appears.

Pioneers on 1G, any advice would be great

Thanks in advance.

I've just complete upgrade from 3.0 beta3 to beta4 using pre-release iTunes 8.2 with no problem. All seems well and unlock is retained.
