Talking [GUIDE] os x leopard on hp g70 120ea

this is a guide on how to instal os x leopard on a hp g70 120ea using a retail disk or the kalyway distro

preparation

I recommend using a gparted live cd to eather resize the windows partition or delete it. (if you delete it remember to reformat to ntfs) But you can use what ever partition editor you like or you could use the built in partition editor built in windows.

Make sure your iso is burned slowly on a dvd r not a rw if you are using the kalyway route.

Download my hp g70 120ea driver pack and put it on to a disk or a usb drive heres the link RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

Boot the gparted disk and delete/resize the windows partition of your hard-drive.

If you are going to dual boot download easy bcd.

now prepared boot the kalyway disk or with boot 123 to boot the retail disk. For kalyway press any button when prompted this will take some time for this to load.

now the disk is loaded
select your language once the installer screen is loaded go to disk utility select your partition and format hfs+ when naming your partition (.DO NOT include any spaces in the name you will have error on boot) exit that and go ahead and install but be sure to customize the installation. Select vanilla kernel + ps2 fix and bootefi mbr
and thats it exit that continue on and skip the disk check it will take about 12 mins to instal. now its done reboot now the problems start once the intro video is done playing you will get stuck in the "do you already own a mac loop" there is a simple fix for this to trick the installer to thinking it has already run. Reboot in -s (single user mode) type

/sbin/fsck -fy (once that has completed type)
/sbin/mount -uw /(allows you to make changes to files )

now type

touch var/db/.AppleSetupDone (this tricks os x into thinking its already done the setup very important .AppleSetupDone must have a capital at the start of every word )

Now we have to make the user account its going to be a root account its a administration account

type passwd root

(it will give you a error cant get form from host volume or like that just ignore it where it asks you to type your password it may look like nothing is been typed dont worry confirm your password once complete type reboot )

now you will be able to boot into os x at the log in screen where account is type root type in your password congrats you have booted into os x for the first time insert the disk or usb disk drive you prepared earlier with the driver pack on it. In the folder launch ulinstaler click apply kext package and you have to select the os x volume at the top click instal if it prompts you for your password enter the password you created earlier in single user mode some times it doesn't prompt you for a password because its a admin account. Once done exit and reboot it will update the boot cache once rebooted you can now use the conextant smart audio high definition 221
and the realtek fast ethernet and the correct cpu speed is displayed now you go to apple software update and just update straight to 10.5.8 or 10.5.7 if you want sleep (you may have to reinstall the sound kexts and the ethernet kext make sure they are present after the update ) instal nvidia 9000 drivers after that reboot instal the nvinstaler remember to instal with the 512mb option and reboot again now you have got full resolution core image and quarts extreme reboot and boot with -f this makes os x a whole lot quicker for some reason once back in go to application folder go to change finder and select visible (this makes hidden files visible ) go to the os x volume go to var then db and then delete the .AppleSetupDone file reboot and complete the setup assistant remember dont put your real details in and there you go a almost fully working os x leopard on your hp g70 120ea. If you are dual booting with windows boot back into the gparted disk and select your windows partition as boot restart and boot the gparted disk again and boot into the partition number where the hp recovery is once the recovery manager has booted it will auto detect a problem let it fix and reboot thats it now back in windows instal easy bcd and add entry for mac os in the drop down menu select x86 generic pc and add your entry now you will be abble to select mac os x or windows

getting the aethros ar5007 to work is a bit tricky its to temperamental for use but it does kind of work i have not included the kext for it in my driver pack as it will give loads of kernal panics and will be very very tempramental . insted i would recommend a usb wifi dongle a great one is the edimax micro wireless n wifi dongle it comes with os x drivers on the disk as well and its tiny and very fast .
so lets have a look at what works and doesn't work

works
Sleep
ethernet
full usb 2.0
sata 3.0
full audio input and output and internal speaker
sleep only with 10.5.7 and voodoousbechi.kext
battery indicator
disk burning
boots 64 bit kernel
track pad
card reader
keyboard
speed-step
screen dimming
webcam and built in microphone
wifi aethros ar5007 but to temperamental
nvidia geforce 9200m ge full res rotation, quarts extreme core image and its hardware accelerated

doesn't work

vga out
shutdown after 10.5.5

not tested
hdmi out

heres a few snippets from system profiler
