I just bought a NB205 and it is on its way. Does anyone know if I can use an external display on it? I am looking to run it with just the external when at home and currently my Asus 1005HA is having issues doing that.

[*]Trackpad is erratic
The mouse moves so fast that it's not comfortably usable and although the VoodooPS2 icon is in the System Preferences, upon clicking I get 'ApplePS2SynapticsTouchPad not found,' then System Preferences crashes if I change any settings Man, I'm running into this same thing. I've followed these directions to the point, and keep hitting it. I keep wondering if it's because I have it set for a dual boot (XP/OSX), but I see others have that with no trackpad issues.. I've done the 10.5.7 and no luck, and similarly no luck when I got it up to 10.5.8. Everything else works wonderfully ('cept BT after sleep, but we all know about that. I swapped with the Dell Wireless, so that's all good too) I continue to research and try things out, many thanks in advance if anyone can possibly point me in the right direction. |

@rneighb Thanks so much! My bad, that original must've blurred past in my frantic checking/rechecking the thread. Didn't give me multi-touch, but helped me get the wacky-fast scroll under control, as well as click-tap. Again, many thanks!

Finally, my netbook came in after all my replacement hul-a-baloo.
I would like to break down my install process for you guys step by step and tell you if I hit any road blocks. I will be editing this post left and right so watch out ![]() P.S. I am using Windows 7 RTM Final with iDeneb 1.51 (ppf patched) for this tutorial. -------STAGE 1 / Boot Drive Prep--------- Since I don't have a flash drive, I'm utilize my portable hard drive. Hopefully this will boot the disk. NOTE: If you have a drive bigger than 32GB, Windows NT based operating systems will not allow you to format the drive with Fat32. I utilized HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool in order to format the drive to Fat32 for the purpose of this installation. If you need detailed steps, just reply below. 1) Download UNetBootin 2) Run as Administrator 3) Check Show all Drives (option is only enabled when you have flash drive selected in the drop down) 4) Select the FreeDOS Operating System and Version 1.0 5) Install 6) Close without Rebooting 7) Navigated to the Folder (My hard drive) and delete all files (there were 4 in mine) 8) Download Leopard hd install helper v0.3 and extract files. 9) Launch ddmac.exe with Administrator Permissions SNAP. This program is NOT in English. Be warned! 10) Load ISO using the ellipses labeled button (...) 11) Choose your drive in the drop down box for both boxes. 12) Uncheck Boot.ini box. 13) Hit the question marks to start once enabled (??!) 14) GOT STUCK. NOT WORKING. Ran as administrator, still failed. (Gonna go try using my Leopard Hackintosh on my PC ![]() 15) Finally got the drive booting with Leopard's Disk Utility and the Restore function. NOTE. Don't right-click on the Drive to start Restore. Click on the drive and use the Restore tab. Also, make sure the drive is erase beforehand and don't select erase destination drive as it will fail. 16) Install Chameleon. You need some terminal knowledge for this. Follow the readme in the enclosed archive. 17) Booted the Installer on laptop. Erased the entire drive and used Mac OS X HFS Journaled as my Partition Type. 18) Reached the Options Page. Selected Default Vanilla Kernel. Selected AppleAzaliaAudio.kext. Selected Broadcom Wifi. Selected IntelGMA950. Selected ACHI_Fix. Selected Cpus=1 fix. Select Firewire remove fix. 19) Installed successfully. Lagged a little when it said about one minute remaining, actually 5 minutes remaining at that point. 20) Booted in Single User Mode. Changed Root user password. Touch command didn't result in any response, just completed without warning. 21) Rebooted the computer again. Booted with Verbose and Regular. Both result in a blue screen and stuck on the screen. Nothing works. Anyone have any tips on what i should do to get 1.51 to work? --To Be Cont'd-- Last edited by nerveband; 09-12-2009 at 01:10 AM. |

Well I've been tinkering around with the whole audio switching thing and the best I can come up with is using hot keys to switch from external speakers to headphones. So basically, if I wanted to listen to music through my headset, I hit F6. If I wanted to listen to music through external speakers, I hit F5. It's not the greatest of fixes, but it beats click on system preferences > sound > output > choose your source > close out system preferences.

Just wanted to post my experience with the NB205-N210. I have a Macbook Pro too, so this was just for the fun of learning. I have retail packs of Leopard and Snow Leopard, so I wanted to use those. Couldn't find iDeneb anywhere anyway (no seeds). Eh, I don't trust torrents anyway.
HARDWARE: - Toshiba NB205-N210, upgraded to 2GB RAM. - Samsung external USB DVD drive SOFTWARE: - Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.1 retail DVD - Had trouble removing the existing partitions using Disk Utility, so I used diskpart.exe from my Windows Vista retail DVD to wipe out all the partitions. - Made a boot CD using Boot-132 [Instructions]. Did the disc-swap with the Leopard DVD to install. Took a few tries, as the installer would hang at random spots. - Once Leopard was installed, it gave me the "Install Failed" screen, claiming it couldn't boot into OS X. This was expected. - Rebooted using the Boot-132 CD and switched to the HDD to boot. No problems. I then installed Chameleon, which now allows me to boot directly from the HDD. - Without installing any kexts or anything else, the screen resolution was right (1024x600) and the Ethernet connection worked perfectly. WiFi didn't (obviously), but that should be fixed with a Dell 1510 card that's on it's way. The webcam works in iChat as well, but Photo Booth says my graphics card wasn't supported. The trackpad works, but no multi-touch. No sound at all. Lots of weirdness with power management. Time to work on those. I have tried some of the kexts that were posted in this thread, but those did not work. Probably because I'm still running OS X 10.5.1. A big thanks for everyone's efforts on this site.
