Also can someone tell me if the retail 10.6 disk, the one that is $30USD is the full OS or just a upgrade disk? If its the full OS (so you can preform a fresh install off it) i might buy it.
the 30 bucks retail disk is a full version, which you can use it to upgrade your existing 10.5.x to 10.6, or you can perform a clean installation. For me, when I boot my 10.5.8 MBP with it, it showed only 3.xGB space needed. But I chose a clean installation. And what's more, the new system runs really fast, even under 32bit architecture. At last I found way to boot in 64bit mode. cuz by default, the system boots in 32bit, even your machine support 64bit.

Have you tried this guide? I think it's a little buggy and work-around guide, but it should do the job.

Thanks for the guide
But why starters should not try a Retail (or as you say, Vanilla) install?

I tried that last night. Everything worked up until the point where I tried to boot from the USB drive. It gave me four lines of random characters, things like 0x0000054 and such. Then it never went anywhere. I'm not sure if the problem lies in the booting from the usb drive or if th iso is bad. Anyone else had this problem?

Ok, how in bloody hell do you get the boot 123 cd to boot a leopard DVD? I can boot a partition fine but what is the hex code you punch in to boot the USB DVD drive?

Hi Jasen.

Do you think this method will work on Toshiba NB200? I'm willing to try it on since some people are saying that WiFi will work.
I may be wrong, but in this website the guy does not teach how to create the bootable disk or USB using Windows or Linux, right? Only using Mac OS X already... do you know any way that I could possibly mount the ISO or create a USB stick using Windows? And being able to make all the changes the guy did?

Have you tried this method? Could you possibly post here what have you achieved?

I'll try to post something here after I give a try.

Hey, i have not tried this yet because i don't have the 10.6 DVD Yet. Im not sure how you put it on a USB because i have an external usb dvd. It may be possible to put the iso on the usb using "unetbootin" but maybe not. It would be possible to get 10.6 working on the NB200, im just not sure how.

@JA5EN: I tried loading it on a USB flash drive but no go. It would start installing, complete, reboot and back at my same OSX version. So I'll try loading it from the actual DVD. Hope all goes well.

Tried to put Snow Leopard on my 8GB USB stick following this guide, but got stuck in an error:

------------
Dump image file to driver, please wait...
Change partition type to AF: not a HFS partition
Load boot1h: not a HFS partition
Load startupfile: not a HFS partition
All done, have fun!
------------

Some people said in that thread to format the stick as NTFS and not FAT32, but this is impossible using Windows default formatter. Also tried installing this software called MacDisk and formatting the USB to HFS or HFS+, did that too, but got the same error.

I'm going to try it again with a small 20GB HD I have here, connecting it on USB, and later I'll post the results.

Edit: tried to use gparted on Linux to format my pendrive to NTFS but the option is not available. If you're going to try, you'll need to have a 16GB pendrive or use an external HD.

Edit: tried with the HD, still doesn't work. The only way possible is having one Mac OS X already working to restore the DVD to an external HD and then you start all the hack.

Maybe it's better only to wait some distro-goups release a SL version?

Did anyone tryied TransMac?
In it it's very simple... open transmac... RightClick on usb drive - Format Disk > Format with disk image.

If this will work then let us know.
P.S.: You need another USB Stick for booting... for this I'm using syslinux & boot data from DellMini9

DLs:
TransMac
Trial Here: TransMac Details
or Healed version Here: TransMac – Katz Downloads

SysLinux
Download HERE: Index of /pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux

for making a boot drive follow this video YouTube - Dell Mini 10v - OS X/Windows 7 Dual Boot - Preparation - Part 1
it's for dellmini10v but these steps are the same. (JUST WATCH FROM 3:40)

The promt that was used is: syslinux.exe -ma G: (G: is letter of drive that you will use for booting). Don't scr*w this!

Then on that bootable drive put files from DellMiniBoot8.02 (edit: permalink here -- http://rapidshare.com/files/27566244...t_8.02b1dd.rar)

Then you can try to boot from it.
It will ask you for hex number of leopard install drive... use 80/81/82/83/84/85/etc... in mine case on desktop it was 84.

Enjoy.
