Exclamation one-size-fits-all

Mac OS X in your Toshiba NB200/205 netbook.

# Tutorials:
##############################
wingzero619's Toshiba iDeneb v1.3

What do I need for this tutorial?
- Toshiba NB205 Essentials Package - Download here.
- iDeneb v1.3 (newer versions should work) - No download link yet.
- External DVD Drive

How do I follow this tutorial?
- Follow it through this image made by wingzero619. Click here.

What does NOT work using this tutorial?
- WiFi using Atheros chipset (you can make the WiFi work swapping the chips) (NEW! Atheros has been found working on Snow Leopard, will have a kext soon)
- Mirroring your screen in an external display (you may try this kext to make this works)

What DOES work using this tutorial?
- WiFi using another chip than Atheros (Dell 1015 is the most used here to swap, you can buy it on eBay easily)
- Alternatively, WiFi using a USB Adapter (only a few will work, such as WUSB54GC, or the ones which have kext files for them)
- Bluetooth.
- Sound.
- Ethernet.
- Webcam (it will NOT work in PhotoBooth, but it will in iChat and other softwares)
- Sleep/Wake (check the known errors on the bottom of this post to make this work)
- USB ports work.
- SD Card Reader.
- Time Machine works.
- Update to 10.5.8
##############################

##############################
calibre97 step-by-step (based on wingzero's tutorial)

What is necessary and how to do it:
This Rapidshare link leads to the PDF file.

What does NOT work (apparently):
- Microphone is not working.
- BlueTooth works, but after entering the sleep mode, it stops.
##############################

##############################
jeff000 step-by-step (based on wingzero's tutorial)

What is necessary and how to do it:

What DOES work using this tutorial:
"-Wifi (swapped chip)
-Ethernet
-Sleep works perfectly (when I shut the lid it goes to sleep)
-Webcam works except in photobooth
-Usb ports work
-bluetooth works (bought an adapter)
-Battery icon works(only has an x sometimes) (just shut the lid and open it and i found that this works)
-multitouch trackpad works
-time machine works
-brightness works
-Core image and quartz extreme work after following those steps to get webcam to function properly"
##############################

# Tips, how-to, and some known errors:
- How to install it using a USB Flash drive (8GB min needed)
Click here for the another forum thread about this or click here.

- If you're experiencing problems with Sleep/Wake:
Disable your USB Charger and USB Legacy Mode on BIOS. This WILL FOR SURE solve your problem, if it doesn't, then you need to reapply the kexts.

- If you need to buy a BlueTooth USB Dongle:
This one worked.

- Drivers to the WUSB54GC WiFi USB Adapter and installation guide.

- Kext that makes possible mirroring the screen using an external display:

- The battery meter is not working properly.
Apparently, a lot of people is experiencing problems with the battery meter (an X appears instead of the meter), although some people said this not happens when you install Mac OS X from a USB Flash Drive. Need more info in this issue.

I've noticed this too. Probably OSX or the bluetooth kext doesn't wake the bluetooth module correctly when returning from sleep. A reboot seems to be the only way to fix this; I haven't found any other ways (but haven't looked for them yet ..)

@calic0: Thanks for the props. After this project was done, I moved on to the new Sony Vaio W series netbook. I just got done with that one as well. I've been busy with work and so I've been working late hours and not enough time left to come on the site to comment. I'm still around and I have more videos to put up. I have them in raw but need to edit them and post them to my site for the Toshiba lovers. I'm shooting for some time this week to post the videos. I'm also going to be doing more of a slim install so it will cut away some of the steps. I know I mentioned it in an earlier post, but I will post it up when I get a chance. I'm glad that the majority of the hackint0shers here benefited from everyone's input.

Default Has anyone gotten Microphone to work?

Thanks again everyone for the great material. The only thing that is a real problem is lack of Microphone support. Has anyone gotten the mic to work?

Thanks

@calic0: Well in terms of hardware, the Sony has the better build. Not only that, the Sony netbook has a display resolution of 1366x768. For me, it was worth the extra $100 bucks. It's not as easy to hackint0sh, but I've put my blood and sweat into it and my Toshiba now sits in the corner collecting dust. Although, I do turn it on and use it when I'm working on my coffee table. Although on the Toshiba, the card readers work (I'm not a card reader person) and the brightness functions work. Not that much difference but for the Sony, the auto audio switching works and Photobooth works with the camera. Now that's more of a benefit than the card readers lol.

I'm actually eating dinner right now while I type. Also landed about an hour ago... so I'm tired and hungry lol. I'll catch up with you guys later.

@EtHANBB: I have the snow leopard kext and still working on it. I don't want to upgrade with Snow Leopard yet. I'm going to clone my hard drive and upgrade the clone to see if everything still works. I don't feel like reinstalling everything on my vaio lol. Done!
