From my Sucking country I can't reach most of eBay products & I don't have credit card

Edit: When in Linux is that chip working why is there no kext? Linux drivers are portable to OSX ... or isn't? (I'm new to this)

@EtHANBB: I'm going to make an attempt to modify the iDeneb Atheros kext. It will be my next project after my current Sony W series netbook project is over. I'm glad you grabbed a set of my installation videos. I took them down because I wanted to revise the videos.

Sounds good, cant wait for the revised videos, and if you can get the Atheros Driver working that would be awesome. At the moment i've got no internet . Ive read that it might be supported in Snow Leopard Next Month.

Default Updated to 10.5.8 now video wonky again

So I don't go down another rabbit hole, after updating to 10.5.8, do I just reinstall the Quartx kexts from wing's instructions, or do I have to do all of the kexts?

The update ran fine, from Software Update, combo 10.5.8 (around 790MB), while on Ethernet. I came back to see it rebooted but with video not right. I know this was how things were before the Quartz kexts from the Essentials package, but since it's a big dot release, I wanted to see if I needed to reinstall all of the kexts.

Again, thanks for everyone's hard work and information and feedback on this thread in general, and on my conversion in particular.

Hi WingZero,

Just wanted to say thanks very much for all the work you have put in getting this to work.

My NB200 Hackintosh is running 10.5.7 now and the trackpad is working smoothly although no scrolling, sleep etc works as does ethernet. Very pleased, a million times better than the horrible Toshiba XP install it ships with.

One question though.. I ordered "APPLE AIRPORT EXTREME WIRELESS MINI PCI-E CARD- AR5BXB6" before I realised people were buying a Dell card.. will it be ok? I assumed so because it is native Apple..

Thanks again for making this possible, I never would have figured it all out alone.

Felix

Default NB205 hard disk

Could somebody who owns one please let me know what make and *exactly* which model hard drive is installed?

I want to get a NB-205 and upgrade the drive to 7200rpm but I'm concerned about the physical drive dimensions.

Thanks.

Default FUBAR after 10.5.8 update and post-update cleanup

I was at the point of rebooting from installing via Software Update, 10.5.8. The resolution was squished, so I went searching.

I found post 265, and figured I was at step 4 "Applied 10.5.8 update combo".
Step 5 is "Applied VoodooPS2 update" but I got confused and figured that was some different kext and so figured I'd jump to step 7 "Installed all kexts according to my guides". I did that from the essentials package and as I was waiting for the restart, I found that VoodooPS2 was in the installer packages.

Anyway, booted up and after a flash of blue background, my screen goes grey with a lot of dashed lines in 2 bands: 1 about a third of the way down and the other, narrower, almost at the bottom. Needless to say I'm fubared.

So, to start all over again as wingzero did in post 265. Here are the steps:
1. Re-installed iDeneb v1.3.
2. Patched everything with UInstaller.
3. Restart.
4. Applied 10.5.8 update combo.
5. Applied VoodooPS2 update.
6. Restart.
7. Installed all kexts according to my guides.

I'll download the 10.5.8 update combo and keep it handy. Now to start over since I screwed up.

Thanks.
I'm using a Hitachi model HTS722010K9SA00. 100GB, 7200RPM. It was $49.95 onsale for $39.95 at Central Computer in Santa Clara, CA.
Update: It's 9.5mm. I don't think you go thicker until you hit 500GB or so. 100GB or 160GB drives should be fine. You might even get away with 320GB, so long as it's 9.5mm.

It's a good, fast drive, big enough for a hackintosh netbook. My problems are user error and software. The drive is a good one. Just note that you'll want to initialize it somehow with an existing Mac setup so it's recognized when you do an install. Most of my early problems were due to the bare drive, I think.
