Has anyone else used Wingzero's latest (in this thread) Essentials Package that had onyx but no 10.5.7 update package and then installed Apple's 10.5.7 combo update?

I think I'll hold off on updates until there's some activity on this thread (where'd everyone go?) in case things go awry. For now, I'll try plugging into the Airport Base Station to see if Time Machine works. The Dell 1510 is on its way (eBay, $17.95 from a Buy it Now auction, free shipping) so wireless should be good to go soon.

In case I haven't said it yet, GREAT FREAKIN' JOB WINGZERO and everyone else who's participated in this forum!!!

I don't know why, but having OS X on this little beauty is just too freaking cool.
@calibre97: Thanks for the comment. Yeah, you got here at the tail end of the whole project. I've moved on to my new project which is the Sony Vaio W series netbook. But I'll help with your situation since everyone else hasn't had the change to answer your questions. As long as you followed my instructions when patched the hard drive with UInstaller and the DSDT, you'll be good for any future upgrades. Going to 10.5.7 is a great jump if you want to start running newer apps like iLife 09. Also, that's where you get the new trackpad. I still can't believe how much trouble you've gone through with this conversion. Is this your first? I can't remember.

So that's the solution. Make sure Legacy USB is disabled and sleep and charge is disabled. Now to plug the Ethernet in and see if updates work. Yeah, what could go wrong?
@calibre: When you first disable those items in the BIOS, I forget which one, but one of them will revert back to factory setting. It's okay if it does it. It won't disrupt your sleep mode. As for the ethernet function, you should be good to go once you apply my ethernet fix package.

I still have major issues with the trackpad jumping all over the place, and the password field issue, and for that matter the problem with being able to select any text in ANY field or Text Edit or the like.

Anyone got a different trackpad extension I can try? Or for that matter, since this is the step where it happened, the 10.5.7 package mentioned in the same set of instructions that include the trackpad?

Wing? Mr. Wingzero? Any help?
Why are you using another trackpad install when it was part of my essentials pack? Use the one I provided for you guys. What ever you saw on my install vids and static tutorials, is what I used to get mine going. It shouldn't be any different since you live in the bay area. LoL, I got my Toshiba NB205 at your neighborhood Microcenter in Santa Clara. By the way, have you ever seen my install vids? Probably not.

I guess I'll have to try creating a new Admin user with no password so I can finish installing the kexts and replace that VoodooPS2 kext.

I can't even type my password in text edit to copy and paste it. Soon as I type it and try to select it, it disappears.

Great. Just great. I can't even add a new user because I have to authenticate to unlock Accounts. What the heck happened? What is wrong with that VoodooPS2Controller-0.98-installer.pkg?

Are there any other KEXT installers I might be able to run, or would it even matter because any install of a kext will require authentication and now I can't?

Hang on, I think I figured out a way. I have to CAREFULLY tap each letter and then backspace over whatever it's filling in and then quickly hit Enter when I've entered the last character and before it fills in another character. I got Onyx installed doing this. Now to change my password to something simple until I get the rest of the extensions installed.
@calibre: I know I'm reading/replying to your posts from newest to oldest but man, lol, you have to read the instructions carefully. I know you got through this part but yeah. i made the instructions super easy and step by step. Oh yeah, there is actually an alternate method where you don't have to go through the terminal portion and set your root password. Instead of that, you go straight through the registration process where you can actually name your root name what ever you want to call it.

I WAS using the one you provided. It was just the stupid Legacy USB in the BIOS which keeps reverting to enabled even if I disable it. And I know, *shouldn't* be different, but stuff always happens. As it turns out, of course, it wasn't the kext but still, something interfered.
I'm a tech writer by trade, so I try to follow written instructions especially when they purport to be usable as is, , which, for the most part, yours are (except for the whole 10.5.7 package thing).

Default In case you're on, Wing...

Update: it was of course the Legacy USB. I'll have to remember to check on that for awhile when I boot to ensure it's off.

The troubles with this conversion started with the drive. Since it was brand spanking new, I kept running into issues. I foolishly didn't want to do anything to it thinking the various installers would be able to handle it. Turns out I should've just put *something* on it (I think one of the Chameleon installs might've walked me through that) and everything would have worked fine.

I did (update NOT install the ethernet fix that I picked up but I still don't have ethernet at all. I'm going to rerun the fix and see what happens.
Oops, I don't think I installed it. Doing that now.

I think my situation seems worse than it is because I'm trying to post progress at all steps, even the screwy ones, in case someone else sees the same thing. I don't know, I figure it might help. If I just didn't post as often, I think it'd seem a lot smoother and I'm certainly not complaining!

There were two versions of my essentials pack. There was the first one with the 10.5.7 install and then the lite version which didn't have it. You're able to obtain those files from Apple's website. I just confirmed my time machine backup on me new project, so it's all good.

Default Essentials Package

Forgive me if I have overlooked this, but is the NB205 Essentials Package currently available anywhere? I've read through most of the posts in this thread, but have been unable to find an active link.

I would appreciate any direction,

Default The infamous Atheros chip

Only Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Windows appear to work with that stupid Wifi chip out of the box. Fedora 11, with a 2.6.29+ kernel is supposed to work (it did for me for a few days and then stopped). I would suggest just getting the Dell 1510 from eBay. It'll work with everything.
