I'm a tech writer by trade, so I try to follow written instructions especially when they purport to be usable as is, , which, for the most part, yours are (except for the whole 10.5.7 package thing).

Update: it was of course the Legacy USB. I'll have to remember to check on that for awhile when I boot to ensure it's off.
The troubles with this conversion started with the drive. Since it was brand spanking new, I kept running into issues. I foolishly didn't want to do anything to it thinking the various installers would be able to handle it. Turns out I should've just put *something* on it (I think one of the Chameleon installs might've walked me through that) and everything would have worked fine. I did (update NOT install the ethernet fix that I picked up but I still don't have ethernet at all. I'm going to rerun the fix and see what happens.Oops, I don't think I installed it. Doing that now. I think my situation seems worse than it is because I'm trying to post progress at all steps, even the screwy ones, in case someone else sees the same thing. I don't know, I figure it might help. If I just didn't post as often, I think it'd seem a lot smoother and I'm certainly not complaining! Last edited by calibre97; 08-22-2009 at 09:51 PM. |

Forgive me if I have overlooked this, but is the NB205 Essentials Package currently available anywhere? I've read through most of the posts in this thread, but have been unable to find an active link.
I would appreciate any direction, |

Only Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Windows appear to work with that stupid Wifi chip out of the box. Fedora 11, with a 2.6.29+ kernel is supposed to work (it did for me for a few days and then stopped). I would suggest just getting the Dell 1510 from eBay. It'll work with everything.
