I've made a new Boot132 ISO for everyone and it's located here:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/t2omkt...ld-Preboot.iso Should make things work a little better. Thanks for all the feedback. I now am Dual Booting Windows 7 RTM + Leo 10.5.7 and using the Chameleon 2.0 RC2 Bootloader to manage switching back and forth. I even have the bootcamp3 drivers installed on the Windows side for read access to the Mac side. I'll post a guide when I can find the time! |

Hi everyone,
I made a post earlier but deleted it. It turns out I needed to use Disk Utility to burn the ISO. I now have OSX running on my Japanese Toshiba NB 205! I applied the Ethernet patch and now that's working perfectly too! The trackpad VoodooPS2 program is a little iffy, though. It keeps quitting when I try to modify trackpad settings, and when I open it, it says no a no trackpad error is found. Weird. It also doesn't realize that my keyboard is Japanese and not U.S. English. Any way to change it? Thanks so much wingzero619 for your awesome tutorial! Everything went as planned. Trying to fiddle around with all the settings to get the thing to work, particularly with my 3G data modem. Another question: is there any way we can retrieve the Windows installation that existed prior to putting OSX in? The computer didn't come with a Windows install disc and my old disc is currently in the U.S. EDIT: I've played around with the NB 205 with OSX for the last few hours. I'm having difficulty successfully installing certain apps. I loaded a Time Machine image from my MacBook Air. Microsoft Office programs were crashing upon opening. I tried installing the software for my 3G modem, but it's not installing successfully either. I even tried reinstalling it on my MacBook Air and NB205 at the same time, but the program only starts up on the Air and only appears in the Air's Application Folder. Even though it says "Install Succeeded" on the NB205, the application does not start up nor appear in the Application Folder. Any solutions? Last edited by FireEmblemPride; 07-29-2009 at 10:38 AM. |

Just to confirm that I got a Dell 1510 Wifi card off eb*y for £17.50, plugged it in and it works great (and without any kexts).
Also the Hard Drive is really easy to upgrade, was playing around when I replaced the wifi card, it just slides out, put your new drive in the cradle and slide it back in (or so it looks) I'll update when my drive arrives... Question: Am I right thinking that the included wifi card does bluetooth as well?. Cheers ian |

Microsoft Office 2008 has failed to install two times in a row. I even downloaded the trial from the website to see if that would work. No cigar. It installs, but apparently something is preventing the programs from opening.

Are you using Mac Office? I didn't install any big applications on my MAC205. For light document and spreadsheet work, I downloaded OpenOffice from OpenOffice.org. This is the free version of Microsoft's Office by Sun Micro Systems.

I just downloaded OpenOffice and it looks to suffice for my typing needs. My netbook wouldn't be used for typing out entire documents anyway, so it's all good. Thanks for the recommendation!

I ordered one from a Hong Kong seller too. Since I'm in Tokyo, it should arrive fairly quickly.

An update on my sleep problems. I tried to apply the BIOS changes mentioned in many posts, and it did not work. The changes seemed to work, and I saved, but when I reboot and go back to the BIOS, whichever setting has Mode 1, 2, 3, 4, Disabled keeps jumping back to Mode 1 (won't remember!).
Again, the symptom that I see is the system seeming to sleep when I close the lid or press the power button and choose "sleep", but after 1 second jumping back to life. One note, when it comes back on, 0s start popping into any active text window, almost as if the "0" key is stuck, until I press Esc, then things act normal. Very odd. Other than that, very happy, especially after I got my Broadcom card ($11 off eBay from montana4me). I swapped out the cards and now Wifi works great! One caveat - I'm sure I saw on this forum that the screws for the Wifi cover took a Torx T7 screwdriver. I had a heck of a time finding one, but finally got a "precision" kit at Home Depot. Turns out it required the Torx T6! Hope this saves someone another trip back to the store! (Thank goodness that bit was included in the kit!) |
