Default Webcam

I currently cannot get the webcam to work in iChat or anything. I installed the MACam kext file and it just shows a black screen in any webcam program. For anyone who got this to work in iChat or other programs beside photo booth, what did you do?

Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Download the ISO I posted in Post #156. That's my Boot132 CD and it has all of the Kexts i'm using. You can, if you want, use OSX86 Tools (which is also on the CD) to install the kexts into your system. Otherwise, you can copy the Kexts into your Chameleon boot loader.

Let me know if you need more help doing any of that.

Hey wingzero,

thanks for this awesome guide. after reading this guide for several days now and doing some of my own researched i finnaly used it and i got osx86 installed on my nb205. i used a usb flash drive cause i do not have an external optical drive and did not want to buy one just so i could use it once and never touch it again. i read here that some people are wondering how to boot from a usb flash drive. however and my disclaimer i take no credit for the guide i used. it was just a guide i found using our old friend google. here is the guide on how to prepare ideneb to boot from a usb flash drive using windows Installing from USB flash/key/thumb drive...using Windows only tools - InsanelyMac Forum again it is not my guide and i take no credit for it. i am probably a little late on posting this cause i see that someone has posted their boot-132 bootable usb drive, oh well.

my experience thus far. i have not finnished my install yet cause i do not have wifi yet and i did all the installation at a friends house and once i got to the last part of your guide were you would install system updates via internet i stopped there and decided to finish at home. i did not install your ethernet fix yet and i have yet to install those updates. however i do have a wifi usb drive that i bought a long time ago for whatever reason. its a netgear WG111v3 found the driver for it online and installed it. osx does recognize it but when i tried to connect to my network i forgot my pass key for my network. i have it written down somewhere on my pc but my power supply went kabloie today so i dont have access to it right now. so i cannot comfirm that this actually works. ill post my results later to help some folks out.

another thing is the sleep function but i think i read on here how to fix that and will post later if it worked.

another problem i have is that when i click on my mac the screen goes blue and than asked me to log in as if i have rebooted the system. i see some pics on here of some folks showing that they got ideneb working and showing there my mac window and i was wondering why does my system goes blank and (as far as i know) reboot? and does installing the system updates in your last step fix that? i know its not a big thing and its not going to kill me if it doesnt work. but i was just wondering if this is normal, are others having this problem, and is there a fix for this?

also there is no track pad config (or whatever you call) in preferences. i click keyboard and mouse but i only get to config the keyboard and not the track pad. i would like to slow the cursor down just a little.

@cannontrane: i was just wondering if you swapped out your wifi chip in order to get wifi to work? just like our man wingzero swapped the atheros for a brodcomm? if so, did you use the brodcomm like wingzero? or did you use another chioset? if so, what?

I've looked at Snow Leopard, but it seems a bit buggy from what I read. When it becomes more stable, I'll probably end up installing it. Have you tried installing OSX yet? I have a static tutorial available on page 4 of this thread to get you started. Take a shot at it. Others have and were successful!
Thanks so much! Did use your elegant tutorial, got it all installed. All works but the trackpad multitouch. I must have done something wrong, am not getting the mac preference icon in system preferences but am getting the VoodooPS2. Also getting the wrong frequency readout in about mac and the webcam is recognized in Skype but shows up with black video. Lastly, sleep doesn't work. When I open back up the lid, the mouse cursor is gone, need to force shutdown with the power button. Any remedies?

Oh yes, YouTube video...unwatchable, seemed fine with XP in the original install.

Nope, not that, pretty familiar with the usual symptoms. I tried the excellent guide here and had a nice working system bar the trackpad. However wanted a more vanilla and less hacked solution.

As for sleep/wake, the laptop wakes immediately after sleeping as someone else mentioned. Still tracking it down...

Unfortunately, it pops back to life after a 1-2 second pause, which is less ideal. If I close the lid, it seems to go into a loop of trying to sleep.

I've searched the thread, and tried all suggested BIOS changes, and tried reapplying the kexts, but I can't change the behavior. Any suggestions? Anyone else seeing this behavior?

I have also installed Win7, and sleep is working fine on that OS...

Thanks,
Kevin
@schraith: The BIOS mod should work fine. I got the exact same symptoms when I first started. Did you make sure you disable both USB charge and Legacy USB?

Have you updated to 10.5.7 yet? If not, this could be a reason why you don't see the trackpad preference pane. Just wanted to be clear that you are talking about the same trackpad pane in the image below: As for sleep/wake function. Disable to USB charger and USB Legacy in the BIOS. If I have time today, I'll make a video on that and make it public.
