I have an MSI Wind hackintosh that I put together, but this one is a little bit different of a challenge. I apologize if these qustions are redundant but I couldn't find clear answers in the 9 pages of this forum topic. These are my questions:

1. Did you use standard RAM or so called "Mac Ram"? Is one better than the other? I will be dual-booting Windows. Would that run fine if I used Kingston's "Mac RAM"? It's actually a little cheaper than their same spec'd standard chip.

2. I'm probably going to pick up a half-height Dell 1510 to replace the wifi. Do I have to take the the keyboard off to replace that card? In your photo it looks like I'd only need to unscrew the hard drive cover on the bottom to swap the Wifi card, but you also have the keyboard/display half detached.

3. It says that Multi-touch works on the tracpad. Does that mean 2-finger scrolling? Pinch and Rotate? Can tap-click be disabled? And in your mac preferences menu does it list the "Tracpad" preference pane?

Thank you again for all your work on this project. It is so greatly appreciated.
Hi there Jeffed, here are the answers to our questions:
1. I use a Kingston brand to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB. To me, it doesn't really matter because it's a netbook. It was designed for the normal streaming, surfing, email checking and light office work. If you are going to dual boot, it would probably invest in a 2GB upgrade.

2. I don't own an MSI Wind. The two netbooks you see in the photo is a Toshiba NB205 and HP Mini 1030NR. For the Toshiba, I unscrewed the torx screws to remove the panel. For the HP Mini, I had to remove two screws from the bottom, remove the keyboard and move face plate to gain access to the WiFi chip.

3. Multi-touch works to an extent. I can do the two finger scrolling, two finger swipe to the right or left and two finger secondary button gesture. I can't pinch and rotate or any of the advanced features like that. Yes, the Tracpad is listed in the preferences pane. I believe the tap-click can also be disabled via the Tracpad pane.

I hope this answers all your questions. Please feel free to ask me anything else. Thanks for reviewing this thread.

@JA5EN: Yes, it's easy to change the hard drive on the NB205. I'm thinking about getting a SSD for it. Here are the links to my files:

MacOSX will support multi core quad core .. What have you read ?

What version you running of iDeneb im 1.4v and no wifi wokring. if you have 1.5 then instll and see if it works.

Look here for what works in HCL 10.5.7 - OSx86

- Having 2GB Will enable you to run more programs But the speed of the CPU is set -- Ram wont make it run faster just enable you to run more programs etc and free up system memory -- so if you use lots of apps your computer will be bogged down -- installing more RAM will free up system rescources and it will seem to make it faster!

I think the Video memory is 128MG that may run a 24inch TFT
@calic0: Thanks for taking the time in answering his/her question. Much appreciated.

Hi,

After I updated to the 10.5.7 Combo Update and installed all the kexts after that I cannot get the battery to come up and work. It just displays and X through the battery and says No battery source available even though I installed the kexts. What is wrong?

THanks.

@jeff000: Google "slim battery osx". Use this battery indicator instead. At times mine will turn into an x and return but it's not a big deal for me. Hopefully the slim battery will work out for you. You can also download the iStat Pro from Apple's website which has a battery meter. Install the widget and hit F12 to review all your widgets.

Thanks for that.

Also I'm looking for the tracpane in the system preferences and cannot find it listed at all. It's not there. Why?

THanks.

The battery just stays X'ed out all the time. Never shows the percentage even with slim battery installed. I have no clue what is wrong.

THanks.

Yo wingzero,

Thanks so much for the installation videos. I will definitely check them out later. I am still waiting for my NB205.

Much obliged,
JBauer...
