This tutorial will give you a walkthrough on an iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 installation. Older versions of iDeneb are basically exactly the same.
Before we being you need to make sure that you are going to install iDeneb on a computer with the following specs.
I found it best to use a system that has an Intel CPU. People have gotten AMD to work with the patch but an Intel CPU would be the preferred method of install. Also to find out if your CPU has SSE2 SSE3 capabilities you can use a utility called CPU-Z It's freeware so go ahead and download it. Once downloaded go ahead and extract the zip and run cpuz.exe When the main screen loads up you will need to look under the section that says "Instructions". For example mine said Instructions: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, EM64T If you have SSE2 and/or SSE3 then your good to go. Be aware that iDeneb might not work on all systems. You may have to try to use some patches that would be under CUSTOMIZE while installing. I have never needed to install any patches so unfortunately I will not be covering that in this tutorial. Currently I have iDeneb installed on my a Western Digital external hard drive, and am using it on my Toshiba A305-S6825. I only use iDeneb so that I can use the PWNAGE tool to create custom IPSW files for my iPod & iPhone. ![]() Ok so first things first if you don't already have a copy of iDeneb then you need to download one. I would suggest using your favorite torrent site and searching for "iDeneb". You should be able to find the same exact torrent that this tutorial is covered which is named "iDeneb_v1.4_OSx86_ISO". I know when I downloaded it there were over 300+ seeds so it didn't take long to download. After you download iDeneb you need to burn it to a DVD. Single layer is fine. You can use Nero or MagicISO etc. Then you will need to put the disc in the cd drive of the computer you want to install iDeneb on. Reboot the computer and when you see the prompt that says "hit any key to boot from CD", go ahead and do as prompted to begin the install process. At this point you should now be seeing this screen. You will be on this screen for a few minutes. As long as you can hear your DVD drive working then everything should be loading just fine. ![]() After everything is loaded up you will get to this screen, go ahead and select your language then continue on. ![]() Next you will see this screen. ![]() Followed by this screen. Click CONTINUE ![]() Now this screen. Click AGREE ![]() Now that brings us to the "Select a Destination" screen. At this point you need to go ahead and select UTILITIES>DISK UTILITY from the menu bar. ![]() Now at this point you need to prepare a partition to install iDeneb on. Just follow the 4 steps outlined on the ERASE menu. As you can see from my setup, my first drive shows 232.9 GB TOSHIBA which is my internal drive. Then 298.1 GB WD 3200BEV which is my Western Digital external hard drive. I then have THREE paritions on that drive, (three partitions is not required I just have 1 NTFS partition, 1 FAT32 partition, and lastly the MAC OSX partition which is what I install iDeneb on. Make sure that your settings look like the ones below, Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then you can name the volume whatever you want. Other formats MIGHT work I dunno, but I do know that this one works for sure so try that first unless you really know what your doing. After you get your done setting up your new volume you can go ahead and close the utility out. ![]() Now that puts us back at this screen. Go ahead and select the volume that you just created and click CONTINUE. ![]() Now on this screen you need to click on CUSTOMIZE ![]() ***CONTINUED IN NEXT POST*** Last edited by DSMKilla; 04-01-2009 at 09:57 PM. |

Here is where things can get tricky. The only two options that I needed to check for my install were the two pictured below. I would recommend doing the same for now. If you can't get iDeneb to boot after the install you probably need to come back in here and add something. For example if your using an AMD processor then you need to select the AMD patch under PATCHES>ALTERNATIVE ESSENTIAL PATCH>AMD PATCH. If your sound card isn't working then see if there is a patch that you can apply also. ![]() Now at this screen the installation will check the DVD to make sure that all the files are there. I always just click on SKIP. ![]() Now you can just sit back and wait for the install to finish. This part only took about 10 minutes to finish but it will vary from system to system plus depending on if you installed any patches etc. ![]() Now hopefully everything went well and you should now be seeing this screen. Go ahead and click RESTART and hope for the best ![]() After reboot your system should boot to this screen. It will take several minutes to get past this part the first time. If you feel like you have waited a good amount of time and your system still hasn't gotten past this part, turn your computer off and back on and try booting again. My system got past this screen but then it went to a LIGHT BLUE screen where it just sat there forever and stopped responding. I had to turn my system off and back on and it booted up fine the second time around. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...b/iDeneb13.jpg Ok so if you got past all that you should be pretty much home free at this point. The rest of the install is pretty much just simple user interaction screens. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ***CONTINUED IN NEXT POST*** |

![]() ![]() That pretty much covers the basics. If your system was unable to boot you can go back and try reinstalling with some of the patches that are listed. Also on my system I had to go into my BIOS and change my "SATA Controller Mode" from AHCI to Compatibility. If your system isn't booting you might want to check your BIOS to see if you have similar settings. You might have something to the effect of "Controller Mode" with the options of AHCI / SATA / IDE in that case you would wanna select IDE. If iDeneb doesn't work there are other alternatives but I have found that iDeneb works best and is my preferred method of install. Other alternatives would be iATKOS 5i 10.5.6 or Kalyway 10.5.2 |
