UPDATE!!: iDeneb has flaws that are resolved by installing iAtkos v7. I Suggest using my iAtkos v7 tutorial instead of this one.
Well I got a stable version running right now, did the following: Installed iDeneb v10.5.7 Use Disk utility to partition your drive and format into Mac OS Extended (Journaled) -Use the following Fixes: --LeopardAMD --Mouse Lag Fix --RemoveFirewire --cpus=1 (Optional, Worked fine without it for me... only use if the laptop restarts during boot) --Voodoo Battery Manager --VoodooPower -Kernel: --AnV worked. Completely Stable. --Vanilla Did NOT work (failed to boot, restarted, other times just lagged out waiting 4 a root device) --SpeedStep kinda worked. (Unstable, occasional crashes, Safari Failed to Download) -- Voodoo was also very unstable -Chipset: Selected the Entire thing. (Installed drivers for all chipsets) Audio: Don't install any drivers from this box. ---Post Install: You can try either of these two methods:*
Video: Don't install anything from here either. None of these drivers support the dell 1521 video --Network: Broadcom Wifi driver. This one is optional, but I found the extra Driver to make it a little more stable. --Netbook: Don't check anything here. This setup should get the OS Running, and you might have better luck with the new iAtkos (I tried an earlier build and couldn't get it to boot at all). I know the youtube tutorial is for iAtkos, but it might work on iDeneb. I haven't had any sucess, but remaining hopeful. You can find a few more codecs for AppleHDAPatcher at Index of /apple/AppleHDA/sigmatel but you shouldn't need them. Using that setup I'm still trying to resolve the following issues, any help would be GREATLY appreciated:
*One thing I noticed is that in the "About this Mac" window it clocks the CPU at only 800 MHz for some codecs. So after you install one, and you think it works, make sure to check your CPU Clock or you may want to select a different codec. (This number should be around 1.6GHz or higher. Simply click on the apple in the top left hand corner and go to "about this mac") **I selected all the audio drivers in the setup, and the buttons on the bottom of the laptop actually make the volume go up and down (on the screen). The external audio controls are integrated into the OS, which is great... but it's as if the speakers aren't connected. No sound comes out Everything else seems to work fine. I wonder if some of the drivers are conflicting? I have checked and reset my permisions, as well as repatched my appleHDA with a kext from the youtube video i posted.

UPDATE: Just got iAtkos v7 running on a dell 1521, here's how I did it:
The CD DVD Drive worked right after the install, I got sound working using the youtube tutorial for iAtkos. Basically, search on google for Sigmatel 9205 iAtkos, or use either of the two tutorials i posted later in this guide. Good Luck!!! Install Tips: Place your laptop on a fan base (a box fan or a laptop cooler) to keep it from overheating. Do not use spaces or symbols when naming your drive. Click on the window every now and then to make sure it's updated (sometimes the display will lag, and you'll click on it, and the install will have already completed). Burn the DVD at 4x or 2x to ensure it's burns right. Thank the people who posted guides and contribute! If you do something different and it works, post what you did! And last but not least, donate to those who made this software possible and free!! Download iAtkos v7 either off a torrent site or from Rapidshare using an app like jDownloader 1) Boot from the iAtkos DVD 2) Partition the drive for 1 Partition, use Macintosh OS Extended (Journaled) and in options make sure Master Boot Record is selected. Make Sure when you name your drive it is ONE word. Example: "MacintoshHD" = Good"Macintosh HD" = Bad 3)After this select Customize in the install. Select ONLY The following: Working install (May be better for less choppy Audio, along with two finger scrolling) The iAtkos OS (600mb) Chamilion V2 X86 Paths /Extra Directory DSDT Apple Decrypt Kernel 9.7.0 Voodoo Disabler Drivers: Select ALL SATA/IDE drivers (Just checkmark the top box, thus selecting everything inside) Laptop Battery Broadcom Wifi Driver Voodoo Mouse/Keyboard/Trackpad driver. Post Install Scripts (Should be the last option) Notice I did not select any audio or VGA drivers. Im still working on VGA. ---Post Audio Install: You can try any of these methods:
Alternative Install: (A little bit faster webcam, but I've had trouble with the audio and there isn't built in support for two finger scrolling The iAtkos OS (600mb) Chamilion V2 X86 Paths /Extra Directory DSDT Apple Decrypt Kernel 9.7.0 Voodoo X86 ACPI (I don't know if you actually need this) Disabler Drivers: Select ALL SATA/IDE drivers (Just checkmark the top box, thus selecting everything inside) Laptop Battery Broadcom Wifi Driver Apple Mouse/Keyboard PS2 driver. Post Install Scripts (Should be the last option) Notice I did not select any audio or VGA drivers. Im still working on VGA but audio you can get working using mferreira85's post at Sigmatel 9205 with iATKOS (Leopard) - InsanelyMac Forum Last edited by smalltwig; 08-26-2009 at 11:48 PM. |
