i had this same problem and it was such a hassel i never got 1600 error but i did get 1601 and they way i solved it after hours and hours is
1. make sure ur ipod is in DFU not Recovery there is a difference if u see the apple logo when trying to get into DFU you did it wrong it should be a black screen then when u try and restore a white screen 2. i would pwn my itunes with winpwn 2.0.0.4 and id get that error close itunes and pwn it againand re open it then it would work and sometimes i had to do it a few times 3. make sure your custome firmware was properly done and it should work. hope this helps Damien |

I got the same problem iphone 1.1.4 to 2.0.2 i had a 1600 error in itunes i've only chcnaged the name file from custom.........ipw to exacly same name file that i downloaded from itunes, i didn't do anything else and it worked
