Default [1.1.3] Jailbreak for iTouch

Make sure you are on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 and jailbroken with Installer.app installed.

Step 1. Download the iBrickr Special edition Link

Step 2. Extract the zip to your desktop, run iBrickr.

Step 3. Follow the instructions, when asked, download the firmware from Apple's website.

Step 4. This should take at least a few minutes to finish, and then upload to iPod, so if it goes really fast it didn't work. Try again.

Step 5. You should then download the "1.1.3 soft update" from Installer in the System category. If it is not there, refresh your sources.

Step 6. You should boot into 1.1.3 iPhone firmware. Don't worry.

Step 7. Gain access to your iPod using Touch Explorer Download

Step 8. Open Touch Explorer, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and download the file titled "Springboard" It will be just a blank icon with no extension. Right click on it, the choice with the (W) will allow you to select your Desktop.

Step 9. Download the folder "sdelta3" to your Desktop and unzip it there. Drag the SpringBoard file from previous step into this folder as well. Link

Step 10. Open the sdelta3 folder right click on the file cygwin1.dll and select Open With. Find command prompt, it should be in /Windows/system32 it will be called "cmd.exe".

Step 11. Command Prompt should open into the sdelta3 folder. Type the following command below.

Step 12. This will patch your SpringBoard file, once it's done, send the new Springboard file back to the iPod in the /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and overwrite the file there.

Step 13. Reboot your iPod.

Thumbs down

I'm getting this error:

CMD output:
C:\Documents and Settings\**\Desktop\sdelta3orig\sdelta3>sdelta3 SpringBoard SpringBoard_patch.sd3 > Springboard
SpringBoard: file size is zero

I've copied the springboard file as instructed but using iBrickr. Springboard file is 839kb. Dont know why Sdelta thinks its zero. After the command is run, the 839kb springboard file is replaced with a 0kb file.

EDIT:
tried running command:
sdelta3 SpringBoard SpringBoard_patch.sd3 > Springboard2

this seems to work but when i renamed springboard2 back to springboard and copied the file back to my ipod and restarted it, now its just stuck at the apple screen. guess i'll have to restore

ace you need to rename the original SpringBoard file to Springboardorig

its getting confused because the filenames are the same

so try sdelta3 SpringBoardorig SpringBoard_patch.sd3 > SpringBoard

even though i was stuck at the apple screen, i was able to use Touch Explorer, i tried the command you just mentioned and that worked, tried to copy this new springboard file back and restarted but i'm still stuck at the apple screen.

If i had to guess i'd say either the springboard file wasnt patched properly (i did use the original and renamed it to springboardorig) or the correct permissions havent been set for the springboard file and the itouch does not boot.

Even copying the original springboard file back doesnt help... Weird.

Can you give more details on the step #3.

If the Firmware file is already in your harddisk, which one should you manually select ?

- iPhone1,1_1.1.3_4A93_Restore.ipsw

or

- iPod1,1_1.1.3_4A93_Restore.ipsw

Because on the step #6 you do mention of the iPhone firmware.

if you already have the iPhone firmware on disk use that

i figured most wouldnt have it because they have a touch

the jailbreak will not work with the ipod firmware as of yet, so make sure to use the iPhones

the replacement of the SpringBoard file will correct the phone differences

Thanks 113jb,

I've done it twice to make sure the method is working and it is.

The SpringBoard patch is in fact the 20$ january update activator
