This is my 1st post around here so obviously I'm a bit new.

I am using a Black MacBook 4,1 (10.5.7) with 4GB ram and I have a 2G iPod touch with 8GB storage and 3.0 final. When I start redsn0w, I input the ipsw (downloaded from the link on iPod and iPhone Firmware Download) and it attempts to process it, but fails and tells me that 'the specified IPSW was not recognized'. The redsn0w zip was downloaded from the official torrent using uTorrent Mac 0.9.1.2 and the IPSW was auto unzipped. I have zipped it back up using Finder (not made it into a package) and removed the __MACOSX folder. It's called 'iPod2,1_3.0_Restore_7A341.ipsw' to save confusion. I've tried everything I can think of but it still isn't working. What's happened?

ok, so you said you downloaded this firmware. i checked out the site and it seems it is from an apple server, so it should be official. have you checked that it says iPod2,1 before the rest of the firmware name? it might be that you are trying to jailbreak ipod touch 1g firmware.

I got redsn0w 0.8 and tried the jailbreak after downloading a fresh copy of the firmware. It was definitely the iPod2,1 firmware. This time the jailbreak worked, but I ran into a few problems so I'm waiting for 3.1...
