Post Help Please

Greetings,

I recently got an iPod touch 2g 32gb, and it was/is still great, then one day, I decided to bite the bullet and jailbreak, all went well, if a little below expectations . My themes were getting a little messed up, so I decided to uninstall Winterboard. Cydia uninstalled it fine, and came up with the restart option. Being to 2g jailbreak, and my computer recently failing, I did not want to restart. My memory is fuzzy here, but I ended up in (what I thought was DFU mode) anyway. I tried to reboot using a gui boot tool on my xp laptop, but no luck. Nothing. I tried at school, on the macs, but itunes failed to detect the DFU ipod so I could not restore it there. I do not know that it is in DFU for sure, due to nothing happening at all when I try anything. I appears bricked, the only way I have been able to get a computer to recognise it is xp coming up saying there is an unrecognised device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance, Alpacaman.

It's not in dfu mode. Once you get it in dfu mode itunes will recognize it. Hold downd the power and home button for 10sec. then release the power button and continue to hold the home button for 7-10 sec. There are some really good gui's over at ipod touch fans website that make booting it up once jailbroken very easy.

DFU mode is a special mode on the iPod touch's Application processor (s5l8720x). This is a mode which should still function.
When entering DFU, nothing should appear on the screen. This is completely normal. I do understand that it is frustrating to be told by everyone to go into DFU, however that really is the only option.
Getting into DFU is not easy at times, you need to get everything right on time to get it to work.

If you try to boot your device, does the screen show anything at all? Or does it look as if the device is off?

i have a method that i think works.
what i do is first i terminate the 2 processes:
"ipodservice.exe" and "AppleMobileDeviceService.exe" from the task manager.
then while my iPod is connected i hold the home and power button for about
6 seconds and then let go both of them, then i hold them both again
and after about 2 seconds or so the message pops up:"the usb could not be recognized...",then wait until it disappears this is where it goes into normal DFU selection mode, let go of the power button but hold the home button for another 8 seconds then release the home button. The ipod should then be in DFU mode.

Give this a go as I have been searching for this info for a while.
