hello
i just bought an iphone today off of craigslist and the version is 2.2(5g77) the modem firmware is 02.30.03 and the bootloader is 05.09[g2m3s2] ( i used fuzzyband downgrader 3.2 to check this) i was hoping that there is a way to unlock my iPhone, please help me. thank you |

unfortunately there is no unlock at the moment (or ever) for the 02.30.03 baseband.
i myself am stuck with the exact same problem: 2.2 firmware with 02.30.03 baseband..the firmware is quite irrelevant but the baseband and bootloader are huge. 02.30.03 is impossible to unlock for iPhone 3G UNLESS: -Turbo Sim -If you have bootloader 5.08 (some say 5.8) ONLY use FuzzyBand if you have 5.08(5.8). otherwise it will NOT work and possibly damage your iphone. the new 3.0 OS is being released SOON hopefulyl in a month's time (estimate). we are certain the modern dev-team will be able to unlock it. [even] if they have unlocked ANY of the beta versions, it won't be released so just be patient. *I assumed your iPhone is a 3G, but if it is not, you CAN unlock a 2G/1st generation iPhone with 02.30.03* |

same problem. i just bought the iphone today off of someone. here is the info:
version:2.2 (5G77) modem firmware: 2.30.03 since i already have at&t i dont need to unlock it right? is there any advantage if i do unlock it (aside from being able to use it on t-mobile)? but you said u can use bootloader 5.08 or 5.8 to unlock it...where do i get that? i know MANy ppl who have iphones (both new and old) and they dont have the crazy expensive data plan that apple requires you to buy...they just have the reg $3 a month or $5 and they use internet all the time....their carrier (at&T) dont even KNOW they have an iphone. Is this possible with unlocking? or jailbreaking? |

Unfortunately you can not "get" or "downgrade" your bootloader. Nor do you need to if you're on AT&T. As far as I know, the bootloader is pre-installed on your iPhone and the version of the bootloader depends on when you bought your iPhone. Chances are if it is a 3G, it is probably 5.9 or above. But again it should be irrelevant for you if you are using AT&T. Just a heads up that there will not be a software unlock for 2.2.1 (02.30.03 baseband) because 3.0 OS is coming out in about a month and even if the Dev-Team found a solution to 02.30.03, they wanna save it for 3.0 because if they implemented it right away, Apple would catch on and patch that segment in their firmware to make sure we wouldn't be able to unlock further versions without finding another exploit. |

so if im on att and my iPhone is jailbroken and i use my sim card from my old sony phone or whatever. then i WONT be charged the monthly data plan or anything else, i will have an iPhone without internet and all of that stuff and my bill will be the same???

Yes that is correct. If you want to be 100% sure you can go to Settings > General > Network: Turn 3G OFF and Data Roaming OFF.
On selected plans, sometimes if you are not on Wifi and you attempt to go online, AT&T will charge you a certain amount for each kbps (kilo-bit per second) transferred to your iPhone. So the best thing for you to do is make sure it doesn't happen at all, regardless of your plan. You can however used Wifi connections to get online and it will not add anything to your monthly bill, |
