i have iphone 3G, v 2.2, it is unofficailly unlock by yellowsn0w. if i upgrade to v2.2.1 can i unlock it?

if you updated & jailbreak with pwnagetool then you can still use yellowsn0w as it preserves the baseband. If you update through itunes then yellowsn0w will no longer work and you would have to use a gevey plus 2.

what vesrion of pwnagetool i should use to upgrade to v2.2.1 withput itune?

If you want 2.2.1 FW then you NEED to have a mac so you can use pwnagetool to update to 2.2.1FW while retaining the baseband from 2.2 (2.28 BB)

If you update by mistake this changes baseband and yellowsn0w can not unlock new 2.30.03 BB so you would be stuck, unless you have a sim proxy (piggy back sim - like a gevey or i-smartphone sim) with the latest technology on it.

does US store now shipping OTB 2.2.1??

AFAIK everywhere is now selling 2.2.1 and if you have to get a refurb one from an Apple store they are obliged to update the firmware to 2.2.1 here in the UK before you leave the store, there is a notice on the Genius desk telling customers that it is part of their service... sucks.

All of them 2.2.1 now..

Buddy bought one 2 weeks ago from O2 and they did not update it so I unlocked it at 2.2 for him

SUCKS FOR US ALL... there are solutions to 2.2.1 nonetheless
