Hi,

I took a long time figuring out how to get my SATA drive to show up during any OSX86 installation.

specs
intel core 2 duo 6400
ASUS P5VD2-MX motherboard with ACPI BIOS Revision 0401
chipset VIA P4M890
southbridge VIA VT8237A

the VT8237A meant my SATA HDD wasnt detected by any installation until I used a kext from here and applied it to my Kalyway installation using Transmac.

I managed to successfully install using default installation options (plus nvidia inject 256) then used EasyBCD to add Mac OS X to boot. Booted with -v and it freezes on the message 'Still waiting for root device'

Can anyone help? Everywhere I look there are people with this error but for the most part the error seems to occur only during installation, which I didn't have a problem with.

It helped me solve the problem, i booted into the disk and accessed the terminal, followed the above instructions - putting "AppleVIAATA.kext" in place of "*ATA*"

also maybe worth mentioning I used backslash to escape spaces in the disk name (which was a tide ~ on my keyboard)

then copied chain0 from OS X drive to C:\ drive and used EasyBCD and managed to boot into OS X
