Hi,
I recently installed iAtkos 10.5.5 with succes. I allready installed the beta version of windows 7. Now, I tried to edit my boot.ini with Easybcd but for some reason, it doesn't recognise my Leopard install. I thought the new Windows 7 has a lot of similarities with Vista so it should be recognised. Can anyone help me with this issue? Edit: Now I've tried the chain0 method. Now I see two system boot possibilities when I startup but if I select MacOSX, windows starts to load files and starts to repair boot... Normally I need to see the Darwin bootloader screen, but I don't see it. Edit2: Hi, Now everythings worked, i tried with another method than chain0. Last edited by Fodbaddun; 01-29-2009 at 09:09 PM. Reason: everythings works! |

Has anyone been able to figure this out that is willing to share? Everything installed fine, with Windows 7 installed first. However, when trying to boot in to OSX I either get windows starting up again, some chain error, or a meny to start windows repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS METHOD!!!!!!!
Found this. Looks like it would be pretty easy. I do not have time to try it myself. Let me know if this helps you. Dual Booting the Wind - OSX and Windows 7|Gear Diary |

Here is another method that looks pretty straightforward:
I have dual boot W7 and OSX 10.5.6. All you need to do is first , install W7. Then, create a new partition for your osx within W7 , format it as fat32 or ntfs and set to to be "active". Then run the osx installation and before you start the install, go to Utilities and "disk utility" , select the partition you created from W7 and format it as Journaled (don't delete it!). Then, install as you would normally, selecting this partition as your installation target. (don't forget to customize your OSX installation with the necessary drivers for you system.) After installation is complete, you will need to repair your W7 boot loader, cause you probably won't be able to boot W7. Insert the W7 installation DVD, at the first installation screen select your language etc, and at the second screen select "repair computer". This will bring the W7 boot loader back, so you can boot W7. Now you won't be able to load osx! So boot in Windows 7, and unhide your hidden 200MB partition: 1. In disk management, assign a drive letter for your 200MB hidden partition. 2.Download EasyBCD and add a new boot entry, select MacOS, Generic X86, Add, Save. That's it. You can now have dual boot with W7 and OSX |

Ok. Decided that I had enough time and tried it for myself. My machine had iATKOS 10.5.5 updated to 10.5.6 running on it. All I did was load 7 onto a partition on the drive, update 7 and load easyBCD. I did not know how to find the "HIDDEN 200MB Partition" as mentioned in the post above, so I just used easyBCD to add the entry and here I am. Loaded fine. Hope this helps others.

I want to dual boot with Win 7 (already installed)
First question. If I have Win7 on one HDD and I want to dual boot with OSX, do I need to mess around following the above instructions, or can I just dual boot the way I would with two Windows installations? If I do have to follow the above instructions, do I need a 'special' OSX image, if so could you name which one would be best. Also, my spec is Intel e6750, Nvidia GTX260 4GB RAM Abit IP35 Pro I don't run wireless, but my network is onboard - Realtek RTL8169/8110. All help greatly appreciated
