Hi all,

I'm writing this from my newly installed d201 gly2
running leo4all 10.5.2

it was a fairly straight forward process, but i struggled to find any help to get it done , so i thought i'd let ppl know how i did it.

first of all my specs

mobo: intel d201gly2
cpu : celeron something (onboard)
memory : 1 gig kingston ddr2
hdd : ide
dvdrw : ide
nothing else onboard

i read on osx86 wiki that sata wont work, so i didnt bother trying.

i popped the leo4all disk in, and i thought it had crapped out on me, it took forever to do anything, but eventually got me to the install screen, i didnt add any drivers or patches, hit install and off it went.

to my surprise, it installed. the only problem i had was on restarting, i got to the welcome screen where it asks you to pick languages, keyboard prefs etc then it would get stuck in a loop,

now there were two solutions to this problem

solution 1

go into single user mode (-s)

then enter with the quotes "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32"

so far as i can figure out, that bypasses all the setup stuff by giving you a message that it cant be run (presumably because it requires higher resolution or something?)

the other better solution was to enter the following commands again by going into single user mode.

and entering

CODE:/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
passwd root

after enterering each line, you need to wait for the prompt to enter another.

reboot after that and you should be ok.

i was anyway.


what is not working, is the sound and lan. and if you dont disable USB 2.0 in bios, my usb ports wont work, except the mouse.
also the onboard graphics dont seem to be working.

the d201 gly2 uses something called " SiS intergrated Mirage 1 graphics engine" which i cant find much info on.

for now, ive managed to get a usb wifi dongle to work, and im using a logitech headset with its own onboard sound card. which both work ok.

if i get anywhere with the graphics i'll report back.

sorry that this is all a bit sketchy, ive not written one of these before.

ok, so i had leo4all 10.5.2 running, and running fairly well.

but i needed to upgrade to 10.5.5 or higher,

so i downloaded a package straight from apple, and guess what......

it crapped out on me.

now... there was probably a way i could have done it. but instead of pursuing that method, i dedided to try ipc 10.5.6 distro

and it fkn worked.

at first i installed it, and there was no mouse or keyboard, so i added the ps2 mouse+ keyboard addon on the disk and it worked.
but then, it asked me for a username and password , i read alot of posts
saying the username was root and password was ipc live, but they didnt work

so i did booted into single user mode (-s) and did the same /sbin/blah blah blah bullshit to change the password, and hey presto it worked.

im about to find out what else works..

if your reading this, and your struggling with the same shit i am, reply to this thread, we need each other.

the same usb wifi donlge driver works.

graphics still dont work

iphone sdk and xcode installed
